“Elegant and convenient in BA”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

The Intercontinental was quite elegant, and the one meal we had on their outdoor terrace was excellent. Definitely comfortable. Not the best area, but lots of BA is kind of disintegrating. it is walking distance to the antiquarian section, and to lots of shopping if that's what you want. Very close to Cafe Tortoni whereyou should have coffee.
Be careful ont he sidewalks, not because of the pickpockets everyone worries about but because the infrastructure is disinterating - lots of missing cobbles, crumbling curbs. But it's lovely all the same.
Oh, yes, free wi fi in themain lobby.

“Great hotel, great location excellent service, but don't let them talk you into their Tango show reccomendations.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012 via mobile

This is a really nice hotel. Many places in the historic sector, where this hotel is situated, is within easy reach.
I enjoyed the nice sectioned lobby, and clean spacious rooms.

Excellent in;
- quality of food served in the restaurants
- services of staff especially in the restaurants
- English speaking personal

Beware of;
Reccomendations by the concierge on Tango shows. They try to push an off beat show called - El Querandi, stating its less touristy etc.
Honestly, not true at all. It's a very pricey option, very small auditorium, obstructed by a central pillar, so very few can see the stage performers fully. All in all a very dissapointment show, and I was more dissapointed that the concierge pushed that show on to me.

My local friends laughed at my choice the next day and took me to Señor Tango show, simply fantastic performance (more then 3 times the dancers), terrific costumes and high quality Tango.

Other then this, great hotel, very nice staff. In fact the restaurant I ate in we're very kind to allow me to taste local drinks like Fernet, before I ordered on.

Definitely a great location, and a lovely ambience.

“a great introduction to Buenos Aires”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

Our first 5 star experience. Now we know what we have been missing. Very impressed with the competence of each person on staff, knew their job and acted efficiently. The dining was excellent and well priced, breakfast buffet (included) was nicely presented and wonderfull selection of international foods.The sleeping rooms were well appointed and great for sleeping. Language is not an issue at any time.

Room Tip: high is great views, street noise is no problem

“Not bad but they need to get their act together”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

This hotel looks beautiful and they seem to want to make things right but we encountered numerous glitches and problems during our stay. The breakfast was very nicely done. Our room was fine although on the small side.
However, we had a plumbing problem that took way too long to get fixed and was actually quite minor: most of the delay seemed to be language-related.
We stayed there for 2 days post-cruise and realized that the location was not prime for a sightseeing visit as it is located in the financial district and there's nothing nice around it in terms of restaurants, etc.I would not recommend this to tourists for this reason alone. There are much better neighborhoods to stay in.
The concierge put us on a tour that we enjoyed very much - but he misquoted the price, which created a kerfuffle which we didn't need to experience. He gave us the wrong hours for a restaurant we wanted to go to, so we paid for a long taxi ride that was a total waste of time.
It wouldn't take that much to make this hotel much more appealing, so I would say that its major drawback is the location if you are not there on business.
