“Super Serena”

The Serena Hotel was our first stop in a month-long tour of Argentina and Chile. It did not disappoint. In the Recoleta district, we were central to everything and in a small hotel where they knew our names and preferences within 24 hours. Breakfast was excellent, and light fare was good as well.

Staff members are knowledgeable and helpful w/o being fawning, and we learned of a few great spots via their efforts -- for leather, food and sites. Over the years, I've stayed in enough Four Seasons to fill a trunk. We were close to one in B.A. and went in it. As typically elegant as ever, the cool feeling and sort of government issue FS made us glad we were elsewhere.

Room Tip: Try a suite if you need more room. Standard rooms are a bit small.

“A wonderful beginning to a great trip!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

We began our 2 1/2 week trip to Argentina in mid January at the Serena Hotel. I followed the advice of other "trip advisors" and decided to try a new small hotel rather than an international chain or one of the extraordinary luxury properties, as we are out and about in cities and do not take the time to luxuriate in the hotel. What we look for is clean, comfortable and quiet. What we found at the Serena was all that and more! The "zen" quality was evident upon entering the small contemporary designed lobby area, where a very interesting collection of books about Argentina lined the shelves, awaiting your perusal. The front desk staff was welcoming and helpful at all times, as were the doormen and dining room staff. Our room was small, but very comfortable with a lovely modern marble bathroom. We were given a card that we could use for a "Welcome" glass of wine or champagne in the dining area or lounge at any time during our stay. The breakfast buffet offered many choices, and eggs could be prepared to order. Coffee and juice were served by a most pleasant server each morning! What I loved most about the hotel was the location, on a very quiet street in the very best neighborhood, away from traffic and crowds, and near lovely shopping and a fine selection of restaurants within a 5 minute walk. Of course we took taxis to the terrific restaurants on Puerto Madera as well! I should mention that the hotel arranged for transportation via "remis" or private driver to the airport and also called taxis for us when needed, as well as make restaurant suggestions and reservations. The doormen also directed the taxis in Spanish so that there was no miscommunication. Always helpful and pleasant.

This was a wonderful beginning to an incredible trip! We returned home two nights ago, and are full of the most beautiful memories. I should not go on now about the wine region, penguins, waterfalls and glaciers...I should just say "Thank You" to the staff of the Serena for giving us a great start!

“Fine hotel but expensive for what you get”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012 via mobile

I stayed 6 nights and had a good stay in general. Bed is nice but double beds are not long! I switched to a twin room because those beds are longer. Room decoration is fine but quite basic to be honest. Had a massage in the spa but it was quite lame. The gym consists out of 3 cardio machines and no weights. Internet worked good and rhe food was delicious. To be honest i think you can get just as good for less money in Buenos Aires.

“Excellent hotel with Excellenct Service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

This was a great tripadvisor find! We made a last minute decision on where to stay our last night in BA. The hotel was very accommodating giving us a late checkout (6pm) at a minimal charge. The staff is excellent and extremely helpful. We had a problem with the air condition in our room, but the hotel moved us without any issue and allowed us to keep the other room to shower and change. The courtyard is a fabulous place to sit and have a cocktail or read a book you forget that your in the middle of the city. I would highly recommend this hotel!

“Intimate and personal”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

My wife and I stayed for 8 nights in January, 2012. Clean, quiet comfortable rooms. What was outstanding were the people. From the front desk to the restaurant and bar staff, everyone was wonderful. Not to forget, the perfect back patio. Great base for exploring BsAs.
