“Terribly disappointed. Just… no.”

I absolutely cannot understand how this hotel has the ratings it does on tripadvisor. As mentioned by others, it is not really a hotel, boutique or otherwise. It is a bohemian B&B with truly very friendly but unfortunately utterly incompetent staff (perhaps owners?). The limited choice of breakfast did not bother me, the coffee was good.

Of the three rooms our party had, only one had sheets, the others had only a rather dirty duvet - without a cover. When we complained, we were given bed linen, but not something suitable: for a queen size bed, we got a sheet for a single bed and a few extra pillow cases.
Towels were a bit old, with holes or burn marks, and a rare commodity: we were told they could not be changed during our stay because they did not have enough towels. The bathroom fixtures were fine, nothing fancy, though as mentioned by another reviewer, never cleaned during our stay.
Bathroom soap was a Palmolive liquid dispenser, where the last remains had been diluted with water, presumably to make it last as long as possible. I don’t mind a liquid soap dispenser that lasts for many guests, but the diluting was a bit much.
Having to ring the bell to be let into and out of a locked house any time of the day, and staff watching TV in the unoccupied room may make for a homey atmosphere, but lying on the bed with their shoes on the duvet just takes it a step too far, especially if they then cannot even provide sheets for the guests sleeping in that duvet.

Palermo is a nice area, and generally rather expensive in terms of hotels, but in comparison to other hotels in BsAs, ~$150 is simply a joke, if not a scam. [They did take one night of one room off the bill though, in response to the complaint about the sheets]. Even if bohemian family style hotels are your thing, the friendliness of the staff is simply not enough to overcome the dire lack of cleanliness. Don’t let the website fool you, the photographers are the most professional part of this hotel.

“Not really a Hotel.”

While the look of the is "hotel" is very charming, it is not run like hotel. The staff is very friendly, but they seem to have no idea about basic hotel operations. We stayed there 5 nights and our room was only cleaned one time. They did not give us new towels( which would have been nice since mine had two holes in it), breakfast consistented of dry toast, coffee, and juice. When we came back to hotel night or day it was always locked and you had to ringed in. Which would always take a while since the staff would be in an unoccupied room watching T.V.
The resturant that is connected to the hotel was open only twice in the 5 days we were there.
Our room was right next to the lobby and our doors were glass with a curtain for "privacy."
This Hotel is not terrible but not really a professial Hotel, more like a really nice hostel.

“Ready to go back to Hotel Dumont!!!!!”

We LOVED Hotel Dumont!!! The staff was INCREDIBLE!! The location was perfect and offered wonderful scenes of Palermo. We arrived and immediately checked into our rooms and went outside to sit at a talbe and enjoy a glass of wine. The staff was very attenttive and made for a wonderful visit. Each day we found our way to the subway (which was very easy to navigate) and back. Each day, we took a different way to see more of what was around us!

Gonzolvo, Flora, Sebastian, Christoph and the rest of the staff treated us like family during our 5 day stay. Each morning we woke to fresh coffie and a freshly cooked breakfast. Full days of sight seeing where met with a glass of wine or beer out front street side talking with other people from the neighboring restaurants that we met.

I can not say enough wonderful things about our trip! The hotel had an incredible roof top terrace that made for wonderful evening cocktails also!!

I highly recommend this Hotel. it does only have 4 or 5 rooms and may not be considered a hotel... but it is an incredible place to call home away from home on a visit to Buenos Aires!!!

“On a scale of 1 to 10, I give it a 39!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 May 2010

I was very pleased with this hotel. The bed was huge and comfortable. The room was clean and the staff was exceptional. It was like saying goodbye to family when we left. I will agree with previous reviews that this is more of a bed and breakfast than a boutique hotel, but this only made it better in my opinion.
