I absolutely cannot understand how this hotel has the ratings it does on tripadvisor. As mentioned by others, it is not really a hotel, boutique or otherwise. It is a bohemian B&B with truly very friendly but unfortunately utterly incompetent staff (perhaps owners?). The limited choice of breakfast did not bother me, the coffee was good.
Of the three rooms our party had, only one had sheets, the others had only a rather dirty duvet - without a cover. When we complained, we were given bed linen, but not something suitable: for a queen size bed, we got a sheet for a single bed and a few extra pillow cases.
Towels were a bit old, with holes or burn marks, and a rare commodity: we were told they could not be changed during our stay because they did not have enough towels. The bathroom fixtures were fine, nothing fancy, though as mentioned by another reviewer, never cleaned during our stay.
Bathroom soap was a Palmolive liquid dispenser, where the last remains had been diluted with water, presumably to make it last as long as possible. I don’t mind a liquid soap dispenser that lasts for many guests, but the diluting was a bit much.
Having to ring the bell to be let into and out of a locked house any time of the day, and staff watching TV in the unoccupied room may make for a homey atmosphere, but lying on the bed with their shoes on the duvet just takes it a step too far, especially if they then cannot even provide sheets for the guests sleeping in that duvet.
Palermo is a nice area, and generally rather expensive in terms of hotels, but in comparison to other hotels in BsAs, ~$150 is simply a joke, if not a scam. [They did take one night of one room off the bill though, in response to the complaint about the sheets]. Even if bohemian family style hotels are your thing, the friendliness of the staff is simply not enough to overcome the dire lack of cleanliness. Don’t let the website fool you, the photographers are the most professional part of this hotel.
