Stayed here 5 nights in mid November. You need to book well ahead BA even though it wasn’t really peak season it seemed many places were booked months ahead. We got the last two rooms here booking three weeks in advance. The Hotel (actually serviced apartments) is really located (cut and paste S 34 34.371 W 058 25.444 into Google Earth/Maps) on the fringe of Palermo Soho, about 1300m from Plaza Serrano, which is considered the centre, with the highest concentration of bars, restaurants and shops. That’s not really a problem as cabs are plentiful and cheap and there’s a Subte nearby.
The staff here were excellent, always very friendly with nothing being too much trouble, and should be able to point you in the right direction if you’re new to BA. All spoke good English. The rooms were basic, but large, functional and spotlessly clean. The only downside is that the hotel is only a couple of doors from very busy Ave Santa Fe, so there’s quite bit of traffic noise (we had rooms on 3rd and 8th floors), particularly early in the morning, so bring your earplugs. Double glazing would probably solve this problem. Another small gripe is that although the old style box TV had about 50 channels, they’re just about all in Spanish, so if you’re hoping to keep up with what’s going on in the world (BBC, English CNN) you’re out of luck, although there’s fast, free WiFi throughout. Breakfast is basic continental, with cereal, pastries and toast (nothing hot). There's a great sunny little courtyard out the back if it's a fine morning.
Having had a good look around BA, Palermo certainly stands out as a great place for tourists to stay (particularly if you want a good choice of restaurants/nightlife) but I’d hesitate to stay at Palermo Suites again due to noise and TV issues.
