“Nice hotel, but choose the bigger room.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 November 2011

Arrived wiht my husband, checked in and went to really small room (and I am used to small hotel rooms!). Window just opened 5 cm on the upper side and AIR CONDOITIONING WASN'T WORKING, The very nice girl at the receptions promissed us a better room in two hours. That is all the bad side of our stay. Everything else was fine. Staff super helpfull, smilling all the time. The new room ( 208) was really nice, comfortable and quiet.
Surroundings look a little scary at first, but if you look around you will see locals ( teenagers, ladies, couples) walking with no worries. It is perfect for Puerto Madero (two blocks) and San Telmo market (Two blocks too). Breakfast is ok. Lobby and pool areas are pretty. I recommend this hotel specially for its good price.

“Noisy hotel on main road”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 November 2011

Located on busy main road in graffitif filled/dirty row. Room was extremely small and on main rooad so extremely noisy - had to pay $50 a night to upgrade to a normal sized room (we had booked thru booking.com) which itself not special and what I would have expected as a mimumum. Wish we hadn't booked ahead as at least I would have been able to walk out and go to somewhere better. Cleaner threw away things that we needed e.g. camera bag, water and plonked stuff in cases that had been neatly laid out on chair to avoid creasing. They also $40 for early check in and have no idea re customer service - it should have been waived due to the hassle we had.

Room Tip: Ask for room away from the road and a decent sized room

“Lovely hotel. Excellent location.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 September 2011

This is a little gem to be found in San Telmo. It is a small hotel, with excellent service and beautifully decorated rooms. It is relaxed and unpretentious. The staff are friendly and helpful. The restaurant is not bad either - good offers for lunch! Overall, really good value. Would highly recommend it!!

“Tiny room with comfy bed, good location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 August 2011

The pictures showed it as a designed, stylish little hotel. Some of them appear to be true, but after being there, I would say that the hotel lacks of maintenance and general care, so the whole concept fails; like there is no manager hanging around. After a long trip from Paris, we wanted to rest in the room that was extremely tiny! My boyfriend and I, plus our suitcases for a 3 months trip around South America, were just too big to be inside! The bed was an excellent quality one.The pool- one of the reasons why we choose this hotel- and the terrace was not cleaned and maintained enough...a real pity. In the other hand, the breakfast was quite good; with fresh "medialunas" - argentinian sweet croissants- good coffee and friendly service. The best aspect of Ribera Sur was the location: it is just behind San Telmo, so you can get there in 5 minutes. But from the main entrance you are in a busy crazy avenue, not so nice to walk since it is quite noisy and you will be advice to be careful with your wallet and expensive items. Ribera Sur is a charming idea that needs more performance and supervision since there are a lot of beautiful hotels for the same price.

Room Tip: Try to check it, avoid the very small ones if you are a couple

“Keep an open mind!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 April 2010

If you like a boutique hotel that is clean, provides a simple breakfast and a convenient location, then you will be happy to find this little pleasant hideaway in San Telmo, one of the oldest districts in BA. The hotel staff are pleasant, internet is complimentary, electricity adaptors are available, breakfast is mostly a cold buffet with nice flaky croissants, and the rooms, though small, are clean, quiet and have a wealth of music channels. There is a large living space downstairs with magazines, TV, music and lots of seating for those who want to escape their small room.

Some people may find the location questionable, but the issue is homeless people who posed no alarm to us females from NYC who used caution. There is a daily artisan market in the Plaza two blocks away, great parillas and restaurants, ice cream shops and bars along Defensa street. In addition the 152 bus can take you all around town to museums, Palermo, Recoleta and La Boca all for 1.10 pesos and within 10 minutes! Puerto Madero, the newest waterfront neighborhood, is also a short 10 minute walk away. The subway is 10 blocks away along a busy road. If you are adventurous and easygoing, you will find Ribera Sur Hotel to be convenient and pleasant.
