I stayed at this hotel at the end of September 2006
My wife and I have been to Turkey many times and know what to expect - this is not it. The bathroom with grey scum and hairs in sink unit and shower and a dirty toilet had obviously not been cleaned for several days prior to our arrival. The shower curtain could not be closed as it had stuck together. As we arrived in the small hours we had to wait for the Rep to arrive the next day to sort it out. The Reception is 24 hr on paper only.
Several people staying at the same time had similar experiences.
Yalikavak is a nice area but stay somewhere else!!!

STAYED IN HOTEL SEPT 2006-BIG MISTAKE! took my good lady to the Windmill hotel as a treat,surprised shes still with me. The staff were miserable,unhelpful and never around when you needed any help. The room was VERY basic,not even clean the shower was covered in mould (no hot water)and you could not even open a window due to the bad smell of what seemed like an open sewer. The one thing it has got going for it was the location but there was other hotels with just as good location but cleaner (we checked some out)
We loved the area but the Windmill spoilt what could have been an excellent holiday.

to top it all the bar was under stocked and run out of beer!!!!!

Stayed at this hotel 25th Sep - 9th oct 2006 was very dissapointed in this hotel.
While the pool area was very pretty inside left a lot to be desired have been going to turkey for a number of years and appriciate that most hotels are pretty basic but clean.
The showers were dirty the shower curtains were black with mould and if you could get a hot shower you were very lucky.
The beds were very hard, and breakfast was meagre compared to other hotels in Turkey with the same star rating.
I also got the impression that the hotel manager was not particularly bothered by all this.
Other guests also indicated that they would not return to this hotel indeed some actually asked to transfer to another hotel.

Yalikavak is one of those Turkish resorts with plenty of return visitors and the Windmill Otel is understandably a popular destination. Set back from the beach front it is in a quiet location and is an unassuming but pleasant place to stay. It's bed and breakfast Turkish-style: don't expect frills but do expect good and friendly service, excellent bar snacks etc.

We were really glad to find this place and would definitely consider a return visit the next time we are in that part of Turkey. We travelled with Thomas Cook and the rep was also very helpful and the organised trips from here are varied with this tour company and well organised. Much better than those we have done with other conpanies in the same area, in my opinion.
