“"Don't bother going in October"”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 November 2011

Apartments were clean on arrival but floors were dusty by end of week. Kitchen was basic - only one socket above work top to service kettle and 2 ring hot plate. Extractor fan was one end and socket the other! Smoke alarm was missing. No washing up liquid or cleaning cloths supplied (glad we took J-cloth). Room 14 had a double bed. Top sheet was obviously meant for a single. Fleece blankets were provided, one of which was used to hold sheet in place plus it was chilly at night. A second bedside table would have been useful (there was enough room). Towels were changed twice and bedding at least once. Grouting in shower discoloured and shower door casters didn't run smoothly and, yes, the water was hot. Couldn't get any English channels on satellite TV. Pool was kept clean but too cold for a swim. Apart from these moans, apartments are in a lovely setting. Noise from mosque and domestic animals didn't bother us.

Yalikavak itself was pleasant but not much happening in October. About 3/4 of hotels/apartments and restaurants were closed. For convenience, ate at Cimentepe Restaurant first night but waiters had more affluent customers to attend to and food was uninspiring. As a previous reviewer mentioned, got caught out in a fish restaurant (Memedof): cheapest fish priced at 16TLR but didn't specify it was per weight. Only found one cafe (Minor) were there was any music. On the whole, we found eating and drinking out expensive.

Room Tip: Room 14 had good pool and sea views. However, not warm enough to sit on balcony as it didn't rec...

“Relaxing place, just go!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2011

We stayed here last week for a week. We just wanted to go somewhere to spend time together, no screaming kids, no hassling from the bustle of a town.
From the second we arrived the staff were very friendly and helpful. They went out of their way to make sure we enjoyed our stay.
The pool bar sells great food, reasonable prices, we heard their restaurant over the road was expensive but we never went, preferring to just chill out in the relaxing setting of the apartments - we only ventured out to eat 4 times in the week, and 3 of those meals was had just about 50 meters away at the Kebab/Pide place called OK Kebab which was also family owned and run - with loads of locals eating there too.
If we were the kind of people who went back to the same place for our holidays each year we would definitely come back to Cementepe Apartments, but we always try and go to different places. There were loads of holiday makers who returned to Cimentepe at the same time each year, which made if feel like one big family and they were more than welcoming towards us.
The room was simple but much bigger than we were expecting, there was a living room and a bedroom, decent kitchen and more than adequate bathroom. Each room had a balcony which faced forward and we had a great view of the town on the other side of the coastline.
Cimentepe is a 20 minute walk from town and there are local busses (2 TL) which take about 5 minutes.
On Thursday's there is a market in town which sells amazing fruits, vegetables, breads, cheeses, olives and spices - it's a must-go.
We went with Thomas Cook and our rep was a breath of fresh air - a local Turk! She was not pushy and was very helpful and informative.

Room Tip: Apparently rooms above 20 are great, but we were in room 15 and it was great, nice view and not nois...

“Fantastic - Highly Recommended”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 September 2011

Just got back from 2 weeks here. Absolutely fantastic, would definitely recommend - superb value for money. 10 out of 10.

The one bed apartments are very spacious with everything you need. Room 14 is fab - a corner room with great sea views. The owner is very friendly but leaves you to your own devices. There is a shop next door and a supermarket at the marina about 20 minutes walk away. The apartments have their own restaurant opposite the complex (we didnt actually go there and we werent ever hassled to go in there either) and there are several restaurants (mostly expensive fish restaurants) just along the road but we preferred to go into town in the evening. It is about a half hour walk to town and about 40 minutes or so to the beach but there is a dolmus bus right outside the apartments every half hour which seem to run all day and night. We mainly walked into town but towards the end of the holiday we started to get a bit lazy and got the bus a few times.

Yalikavak is a fantastic small town, the best resort in that area by far. It is very Turkish, lots of rich Turkish people have their second homes there so it had a nice authentic feel to it. There is an english bar which shows sky sports but on the whole it wasnt commercialised at all. Before we went I thought that it might be too quiet for a 2 week holiday but there was plenty going on, it was a Turkish bank holiday while we were there, so the place was very bustly. The tourist restaurants were a bit hit and miss to be honest, very slow service and meals arriving half an hour apart so we ended up eating in the traditional restaurants which were far cheaper, better food and fab service.

The beach was good, a long thin strip which went along the coastline. Each restaurant had their own section of the beach so the sun beds were free as long as you bought a drink or food from them. Shingly beach, very shallow water, gently sloping and they had built ramps with handrails to make getting in and out of the sea easier. Water was lovely and warm. The afternoons seemed to get windy, for a few hours every day, but to be honest this made the temperature more bearable - it was 40 degrees every day.

Very easy to get around to the other towns - plenty of dolmus buses at the bus station that seemed to go every half an hour or so no matter where you wanted to go - Bodrum, Gumsluk, Turkbuku, Turgetreiss, Geris. Very cheap and the drivers are really helpful.

The only negative I would have is that there are dogs everywhere, not strays, they all have collars on but they seem to roam around the whole town. To be honest they dont bother you at all, they are usually asleep most of the time but if you are a bit scared of dogs you might find it a bit daunting.

But apart from that I would thoroughly recommend these apartments and the town of Yalikavak. Dont hesitate to go there.

“We will be back for our honeymoon in 2012”

Nothing I can write will do the Cimentepe justice. We have had such a good time that we have ditched the idea of the Caribbean for our honeymoon and will be returning Aug 2012.
The accommodation is very clean, the staff team go over and above expectations to help and make sure you have a good holiday.
When we were there most of the guests were returning for the 5th and 6th time this says it all. Once you have been you will understand why people want to return year after year :0)
