“OUR HOLIDAY NIGHTMARE”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 August 2007

Just returned from the Gloria hotel and i must say it was the worst experience i have ever had. In the week we stayed at the hotel we had 7 room changes, yes 7!! Every day yet another problem whether it be a flood in the bathroom to no power at all to moving my son and his girlfriend out of thier room to move a family in. My sons first room had a bucket of water beside the bed catching the water that was pouring from the ceiling! The bathrooms were disgusting and we had to go and buy bleach just to get rid of the stains around the toilet and the bath. We were appauled at the staff and lack of consideration towards the situation we were in. the food was rank and we had to eat out in a nearby restaurant which defeats the whole purpose of all inclusive. My son was living on bread most of the time which caused a bit of worry but the choices for meals were non exsistant. The salad looked like it had been sitting in the sun for hours, the rice ( which was on every day )was luke warm. Rude staff who have selective hearing also thrived on serving everyone else who was not brittish first, even in it meant stopping pouring your drink to serve non brittish who slaps an empty glass on the bar.If you want entertainment you will be let down as there is none. No kids club and no fitness centre. We also found things vanish after the lazy cleaners had been in the rooms. We say lazy because they only came to clean about 6pm and that was a quick sweep if you were lucky, no clean sheets for the week we stayed, though we did have a different room every night!! To be honest i could go on for ever as this doesnt even cover half of it but i think you get the jist. This hotel should not be advertised and i would not rate it, it was like living on war rations for a week. You would get cleaner rooms , better meals and friendlier staff at auschwitz. Booked with on the beach.com so beware of that as they booked us there when we were meant to be somewhere else which make the whole experience even more bitter. Hope this helps and saves anyone else going through the same thing we did.

“Gloria Hotel and Yalikavak”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 August 2007

GLORIA HOTEL - an established hotel for Turks holidaying at home, this was the Glorias first season to fully open their doors to non-Turks. Guests remained mainly Turkish but Europe represented by English, Scottish, Belgian and Dutch. Catering and other amenties set at Turkish standards hence purely Turkish food and generally poor service - though food portions were plentiful. Staff were relatively friendly but spoke little English and certainly favoured Turkish guests. All-inclusive drinks were of fair quality. Air conditioning in rooms was a definite boon. There were no evening activities or other entertainment. This is a 1* hotel, so as long as you are aware of this and don't have high expectations then you won't be disappointed.
YALIKAVAK - a picturesque, modern port. Charges for meals and drinks vary hour by hour - even within the same establishment - but are generally high compared to other Turkish resorts (e.g. a meal for two with drinks will set you back about 40GBP). Olu Deniz is far better.

“Never Again!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 July 2007

This was the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. The staff are extremely rude and very unhelpful. I went for a fun week away with a friend. Wish we had not bothered.
The food was disgusting, the same rice and meat substance type stew every day for lunch and dinner. As for breakfast, dont bother unless you like stale cereal or salad! For an all inclusive holiday this turned out very expensive as by day 3 we could not stand the thought of eating at the hotel any more.
The all inclusive bar closed at 11pm but you had to get down and order your drinks well before or they would charge you riddiculous prices. Once the bar shut the staff switched off all of the external lights leaving the place in darkness. - Shortly after this we were were ordered to bed like children. after obviously refusing we were first threatened with the police and then told to pack our bags and leave (the nights this happened it was only around 12:30 am!!)
Entertainment is advertsied but their version of this is blasting out Turkish music repeatedly during the eveing - switching it off when they see someone enjoying themselves.
The hotel advertises it welcomes english guests, I believe someone forgot to tell the staff this. They refused to attempt to communicate in any way with the english guests, pretending they could not understand a word. On asking a question as to where the advertised ameneties such as health spa, laundry we were faced with blank looks and shrugs.
I can easily say I will NEVER visit this place again. As for recommending it, not even to my worst enemy. No one deserves that!

“Worst holiday I have ever had !”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 July 2007

Worse holiday i have ever had. !!!
This is the worst holiday I have ever had and never encountered such rude staff at a holiday resort before.
The food is absolutely awful and you are likely to have a case of Deli Belly although in Turkey, I have had mine now for the last three weeks with no sign of it going back where it came from.
Food is the same daily, breakfast with eggs and sausage and veg mix, cold meats, jam, bread and salad; lunch, soup ( different colours but the same flavour) rice or pasta and casserole withsome kind of veg , not sure what kind as was unable to identify them,;dinner yet again was soup, different colour, rice or pasta, casserole and unidentified veg. Make sure you run for your puds as only 12 served for a hotel that caters for about 120 peeps, come to think of it don't run they're not worth it , as either rice pudding or choc mousse, then you have snack time which is burger and chips daily, every day all the time no change there either and the great cakes and coffee at tea time where you only get cakes once a fortnight and coffee is kak.
The all-inclusive bar closes at eleven but make sure you get there early as they won't serve you at 22.55 either , then all drinks must be paid for at 5 lira a time.
The rooms are never cleaned and was given a clean top sheet in the whole fornight, no bottom sheets or pillowcase were given at this time, towels are usually thrown from the door.
The pool is very nice although no covers are on the vents.
Be prepared to go to bed at between 11-12 pm if you are British otherwise you will be told the police are coming, it's ok if you are Turkish and know the owner or staff you can party to when you like then, not that there is any entertainment any evening mind unless you like Turkish pop cd's.
Looked for the health suite all two weeks i was there but never found it and the mini market was empty and closed, although all inclusive you will also have to pay £4 an hour to play on the pool table.
Yalikavak and Bodrum are lovely and the people are great, just seems to be the hotel staff that are trained in being rude and pretending they speak no English.........Don't be fooled they do and very well too !

“Holiday from hell!!!!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 July 2007

We knew when we were the only people collected at the airport that we might have made a mistake. Our guide didn't speak any english and it took us 2 hours to get there as he couldn't find the hotel!!
The pool and weather were the only good things about this hotel. Staff unbelievably rude and unhelpful, they only spoke english when it suited them.
DO NOT expect entertainment.
All you get is turkish music at full volume while the bar is open. Free drinks finish at 11pm - but you wont get served at 10:55 and maybe not even then if they have run out of glasses again!
The food is diabolical. Breakfast is the same every day.If you are lucky you might have 3 hot !! dishes and salad.
You get soup lunchtime + dinnertime .The soup tastes the same even though it is a different colour - at least it is edible. We ate so much bread, a loaf at a time, because we were not filled up by the salad that was the main course. Again you get 3 hot (lukewarm)dishes which were quite difficult to decide what they were.
The rooms were adequate. The rooms were cleaned daily around about 6pm by lazy turkish men who might make your bed or not as the mood took them! You got hot water sometimes. It was hit and miss. We seemed to get it evenings only but friends got it in the morning and evening- lucky devils.
Basically for the price we paid we got our monies worth. But we will NOT return
