“What?”

After reading the last review I cant believe we are talking about the same hotel, it was probably one of the cleanest hotels I have ever stayed in, the location was excellent, and as for staff not allowing you to fetch food/drinks from outside, I was never approached by staff or to my knowledge was any one else staying there, if you look at other hotels in Turkey they are all have the same rules so Marcan Beach is no different from anywhere else. We loved it and would happily return.

Room Tip: I was in Block 5 which was away from the street

beware all who enter!!

more rules and regulations than the third reich, cant do this, cant bring food in, no drink in.
rooms were like a bosnian refugee camp, damp and basic, aircon was expensive and ill maintained.
the sister hotel across the way by all accounts was a nice place but did we eva draw the short straw, the hotel owner patrolled the grounds wirh a notepad, moaning and whinging, the guy at reception has a real attitude problem and overcharged us on bar bill loads.
avoid like the plague

Although this hotel is quite central, and close to the beach the rooms I found to be basic.and the bathroom tiles grouting was dirty. Also the Tiles around the swimming pool are extremely slippy when wet,and I can Imagine this is a grave concern to the elderly or young.

Room Tip: Use Travel Republic and save a fortune.

“Keep your bar receipts!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 October 2011

The hotel itself is good, although there are minor annoyances like not having a rubbish bin or tv remote in the room; and you have to put your key in a basket on reception when you want your room cleaned. Oh, and if there's a thunderstorm and heavy rain you may get flooded if you're in one of the downstairs rooms by the pool!

Our biggest problem was paying bar bills etc..

The first time I paid I was overcharged by 10TL and didn't get a receipt, thinking I had just added up my tickets wrong as I had made it 97, not the 107 I paid. (10TL is the price of 2 large beers.) This was after first being told I owed over 400TL, then it was "Oh wrong room number"; even though the room number is automatically found by the computer when they take your card and scan it.! Then I found that I had been right but couldn't prove it. The next time I made sure someone else was on reception and got a receipt; this was ok. I mentioned the overcharge but nothing happened.

Then we noticed that the cost of AC and safe for 2 weeks was on our bar bill as 270TL. According to the signs on the wall the total cost in Sterling was £90, going by the exchange rate offered in the hotel 270TL was £108! Even at the best rate we were getting in town 270TL was £98.

We asked if we could pay in Sterling and fortunately we could, so this is the thing to do; although why it should be cheaper that way goodness only knows!

After paying that, the next time I noticed that we had a 55TL charge on the bill from 6 days before we even arrived! This was cancelled, but if I hadn't noticed it.........

SO, be VERY careful when settling your bills; keep your receipts, add them up before going to pay, always get a receipt and check everything on the printout! Pay every few days, then you can keep better track.

Room Tip: Try to avoid the slightly below ground level rooms around the pool.

“Beware”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 September 2011

We had asked for a room with Pool view or a balcony, upon arrival we were put in room 605 which was facing onto the main street and had no balcony. We asked the manager if we could change rooms and he stated there were no rooms free. I then asked another manager who stated that 3 rooms were infact available! We got moved to a better room. The rooms have no fridge (£15 per week to hire one), no kettle (£10 per week to hire one), no cooker, no cups or cutlery, you have to pay £35 per week for the air conditioning and you are not alllowed to take any food or drink into the hotel. The manger who we first spoke to was very rude and never spoke to us again until the last day. Overall i would not recommend this these appartments. If you do dare go, make sure you take plenty of extra money for all the hidden extras. We got told that 2 years ago ahe rooms had fridges and air con included in the price you pay so they are under new manamgement and looking to make money at every opportunity. One good point is the location.

Room Tip: If you are given rooms 603 - 605 you are in for a terrible experience.
