“Late break”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 October 2010

Arrived early hrs of morning due to delays from luton. Requested a room overlooking pool which we got plus bonus of double bed! (paid for twin.... double room at travel agents was extra!!) Didn't need air con.
Every morning pool was cleaned. Beds were made every day clean towels provided and room size was adaquate for two.
The start of holiday 20 rooms were occupied out of 27, over 3 floors. Apparently the 1st and 2nd floor had been modenised and given a slight make over. Ground floor consisted of those overlooking pool and some out back being lower than street level... basement!
Ours on the 2nd floor(Top) had the disadvantage of noise travelling from the restaurants from the road..... the mosque in town, dogs barking and the cock crowing!!
Those at the back.... dustcart and occasional turkish wedding!!
The restaurant noise finished at 12-12.30pm but then the other noise started from 5.30ish am.
Breakfast was traditional turkish seemed unfair thou if you didn't drink tea or coffee as there was no alternative ... so 3.5 lira every morning for 1 orange juice soon adds up or water at 1.5 lira.
being late in season sun doesn't get on to pool till late morning 10-11am. We being sun worshippers lol got up and out catching a dolmus into olu deniz from 8.30am 10 lira a day for two return.
hisaronu was cheaper than olu deniz in general for everything but there are some big supermarkets called azda! for cheap water bits and bobs!
Restaurants weren't far in the main strip to walk to from the hotel and once at the strip ....it was pedestrianised so safe. Allsorts of tastes were catered for and we didn't have one bad meal except for the Butterfly where the service was slow. Didn't use the tour operators boat trip, used the ones in hisaronu which are only £5 - £12 including food (alibabas)
Would i go back? yes because it was a bargain break for two weeks. The hotel had only 6 rooms occupied when we left on 7th oct (end of season 31st oct)

“prety but boring!!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 October 2010

We are just back this morning from Hisaronu after a 2 week stay. The Olympos has pretty garden & is spotlessly clean. The towels were changed daily & the beds were changed every 3 days which was welcomed as it was very hot for all but 2 days of our visit. The rooms are basic & there is no fridge, phone or TV.We had real problems for the first 3 days as there was no hot water,& guests who had arrived earlier in thje week said the hot water was sporadic. We complained & got fobbed off all the time,so we phoned the rep,We then had hot water for 9 days, but the night before we left & our last day it was running cold again.Mama & Papa who own the hotel were nice enough most of the time but unhappy that we chose to eat out for dinner apart from 2 nights. The food was good, but with a huge choice of places to eat we preferred to go out.The hotel has no entertainment at all apart from TV in the bar, which played only music channels or football. No live music,or even the usual Turkish night. The pool was well maintained, but very cold. There were plenty of sunbeds. There wasnt an money exchange. We were told we couldnt bring any food or drink in from outside which was fair enough, but this rule includes water & it was double the price of water in the supermarkets to buy in the hotel!!!If you just want a place to lie in the sun, then it will suit very well, but if you want a bit of entertainment then chose somewhere else.Lastly, the location is fairly good, but its tucked in a lane which is loose stones & there are no lights at all for about 150 yards,so it could be hazardous picking your way along in the pitch dark.

“Good location, clean hotel, friendly staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 September 2010

Just returned from a 2 week holiday at the Olympos Hotel in Hisaronu. The hotel was very clean and the pool was great, although very cold! The staff were very helpful and made us feel very welcome. We went Bed and Breakfast, the breakfast was very basic - bread, eggs, cheese and tomato and coffee and tea. The prices of food and water are higher than the local supermarkets but you cannot take your own food in the hotel which was annoying. The rooms are basic but everything you need - The 2nd and 3rd floor seem to have been modernised, the first floor was quite shabby. There was 7 adults and a 2 year old in our party and we all enjoyed our stay, we loved Hisaronu but it is quite a walk from the hotel to the centre. There is no entertainment at the hotel at night except a Turkish night once a week which was good. All in all it was a lovely place to stay, the only downside was the distance from the centre and at the hotel they put all your meals and drinks on a tab - i had to question mine on a few occasions as it seemed quite steep for what we had eaten and drank. My advice is to pay for things as you get them. Mama and Papa were nice though and nothing was too much trouble, they even brought my 2 year old a baby doll as a present when we were coming home! If you do go to the Olympos I recommend you got to the Coffee Pot around the corner - very nice coffee and cakes!

“Great if you are on a budget - clean, friendly and helpful”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 August 2010

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Olympos which is about a 10 minute walk from the main centre of Hisaronu. We didn't know what to expect although we have been to Turkey twice before. We travelled with Thompson and this was fine, except neither the coach driver nor representative knew where the hotel was! We finally found (thinking it must be terrible if no one knew where it was!) but all was fine. Greeted by a lovely member of staff who showed us to our room and asked if we wanted anything to eat or drink. Unfortunately we had single beds but they easily pushed together and after a couple of nights, the maids pushed them together and fitted a double sheet and decorated the bed with flowers. The room was on the ground floor which was fine. Some evenings the music from a karaoke bar across the road was quite loud and you could hear the occasional car but aside from this we slept well. We didn't pay for air conditioning, it was warm in the evenings but we felt we didn't need it.

Overall, the room had plenty of space, it was clean and bright. The bathroom was fine, even the shower pressure was decent. We did have a bit of trouble with the key that you plugged in for electricity, it played up and you had to wiggle it around a bit but this wasn't too much of a problem. The pool was immaculate and cleaned every day.

We had lunch at the hotel a few times but preferred to eat in the centre or catch dolmus to Olu Deniz for some lovely evening meals. Oyster Restaurant on front serves lovely food in a gorgeous setting. There is also a beach bar where you can enjoy drinks sat on bean bags, definitely worth a visit. To anyone new to Turkey, take sterling and change over there. You get a much, much better deal than here. Also bought a phone card to save on bills.

I love Turkey and would recommend it to anyone.
