“Never again”

I have to agree with the post before mine. If this was my first trip to Turkey. I would never return. Sullen staff dirty pool and loungers. My bathroom wanted a real good bleaching, the toilet seat was yellow and stained. The tiles cracked and dirty, and hot water was not an every day occurance. Never again would I stay there, there are much better hotels within Hisaronu, that welcome you, where staff are very friendly and happy to meet your needs. And look after you well during your stay.

“Not impressed!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2012

Our stay at the Saray only happened because the hotel we normally stay at was closing early (we went mid October 2011) and because I knew this hotel was in a central location we agreed to change our original booking. On arrival we were met by a less than cheerful man on the reception desk, and, with the exception of the annoying man who we saw a couple of times around the pool area during the day, no member of staff spoke to us for the rest of our two week holiday! I have visited Hisaronu many times during the past 6 years and have stayed in a variety of hotels so I know what to expect but the hotel and staff were very disappointing! The cleaners came in everyday and did what they had to (literally only emptying the bins and nothing else) and as the weather on the first two days was not at its best (wet and windy) it was easy to see that the floor in my room was not swept or mopped the whole time we were there. All in all we spent as little time as possible actually in the hotel (maybe thats why we were ignored) but when we did speak to the staff we were surprised at the 'couldn't care less attitude'. I've never experienced this in any other hotel I've stayed at in Hisaronu (no matter how basic) and found the staff at this hotel to be less than helpful. The pool area was appalling with dirty, broken sunbeds and mattresses, no lights at night (actually it was so dark it was dangerous to walk around the pool to get to your room) and when we arrived the childrens pool was full of leaves, with an old rubiish bin floating in it!!! I also hope any future guests like cats because there's at least 6 or 7 'living' around the open door to the kitchen at all times! The list of 'Dont's' at the hotel also leaves a lot to be desired - I certainly didn't want a list of prohibited items and don't do this or that in my face afterall I was on holliday!

All in all we enjoyed our holiday as spent most of the time with friends at other hotels and I am going back to Hisaronu this year but will not be staying at the Saray again!

“great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 October 2011

I stayed at this hotel with a group of nine friends aged 21-24 for a week in june 2010 we had no problems really, its in such a great location, so close to the main 'strip' in hisaronu it was perfect, we went at the end of june and it was quite quiet still. it is a bit of an annoyance that u cant bring your own food and drink into the room, but on quite a few occassions i did bring drink back in and the security guard never mentioned anything to us, the maids came in to our room every day to clean it. The pool was cleaned every night and we never used to make it too the pool until about 10am or after everyday and always managed to get sunbeds to accomodate all nine of us!! we went to olu deniz beach which mustafa organised us a free shuttle for. It is a good base and was perfect for us who only spent time getting ready to go out and sleeping in our rooms and hisaronu is great if you like a good night out with many restaurants, bars and clubs. :)

Room Tip: If you want quietness ask for a room in the end block, top floor, some of us were in rooms here.

“brilliant holiday!!!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 October 2011

Just got back from another great holiday at Saray hotel! Dont be but off by some of the negative reviews on this site as the saray is a lovely hotel i have now been twice and had a brilliant holiday each time. The rooms are a good size and cleaned every day along with the pool area. I do agree maybe new sunbeds are needed however its no big deal me and my partner spent many nice days around the pool. Also in regards to the no food from outside the hotel rule a lot of hotels in turkey have this rule and we had a kettle and food in our room for the 10 days we were there and nothing was said. The staff are very friendly and make a effort with everyone to make sure they have a enjoyable stay.
Hisaronu is a fab resort and the saray is in a good location just a 5min walk from the main street. I would recommend Alfrescos bar we had many good nights there!! Also as far as food we never had a bad meal there is a wide selection of places to eat and bars something for everyone. All in all a brilliant holiday and i would recommend Hisaronu and Saray hotel to anyone!!

“Checked in at 3am - checked out 5pm SAME DAY!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 October 2011

Would have left sooner if Thomas cook resort office had pulled their fingers out!

What can I say. We arrived early hours on 4th oct. First thing you are confronted by at the entrance is a huge sign forbidding anyone to take in food, drink, alcohol or a kettle! Warning you that if you do and the cleaners find them they will confiscate them!
I was too tired for a confrontation after travelling for 15 hours so simply filled in the paperwork and the receptionist showed us to our room. We had to go through the bar where a few old drunks were still drinking and then outside to the pool area. There are no lights outside at all! It could be a potential deathtrap. We got the room and the receptionist scuttled off. I had a quick look outside at the 'terrace'. OMG! we were below ground level (room 112) and the sight I was confronted by was an 'L' shaped area with dirty, damp stained Walls all round with weeds where I assume once were flower beds. I was somewhat dismayed at the thought of spending 14 days looking at that. When we booked we requested a pool view, now I know that can't be guaranteed, but I did expect A view!
Then I looked in the kitchen cupboards and found ONE glass. That was it ! No cups, plates, cutlery nothing. But there were 2 more WARNING signs. One confirming the no food, drink or kettle rule, the other warning you not to bring a fan into your room for fear of confiscation. The only other alternative is to pay £35 per week for the air con.
We tried to sleep on the hard beds. When we woke at around 10am we discovered that breakfast finishes at 9-30 and the hot water is only on between 6-9am. So it was no breakfast and cold showers all round and due to the absurd NO KETTLE rule, no tea or coffee! What a place! They should simply replace the large sign outside reception with one saying'DEAR GUESTS,PLEASE REMEMBER THAT YOU ARE NOT HERE TO ENJOY YOURSELVES,ONLY TO BE RIPPED OFF BY OUR STAFF'. We looked in the superfluous fridge only to find it stocked with extortionately priced water and soft drinks. For example, a bottle of fantastic in a supermarket is 1.7TL, the same bottle in the saray is 7TL!
We went to reception to express our dissatisfaction and were told to come back later and they could possibly change our room. I said our rep was in at 1-30 so I would speak to her, he said no no, no need to tell her. But after looking around at the broken sun beds with ripped mattresses and general condition of the hotel we decided we wanted to change hotels.
We met the rep. When asked why we were not told of the endless list of rules when we booked at our local Thomas cook travel agent, she tried to waffle her way round it by saying they can't tell potential guests as the hotel could change it's policies whenever they want. I told her I had been online whilst waiting for her and people were complaining about this hotel as long ago as 2008.
Any way, we finally got moved, were charged an extra £80 for the privilege even though we went from b&b to self catering??? And we are currently sunning ourselves at the wonderful Pinara appts.
I posted this review whilst still on holiday because if I can help someone else avoid the hideous Saray then it has been worth breaking into my valuable holiday time.

Room Tip: Too many rules !
