“Are you all crazy?!?!”

We stayed in this hotel in sept. 2011. The hotel was maybe a 3. You have to drive up the side of a cliff, quite a distance from town. It's hard to find where to park. You then get mauled by the dog who is biting your luggage and underfoot the whole way. You feel like you're staying at your in laws as it's a big farm house, kind of B &B, you feel like you're intruding. You are serenated by roosters. No view, just farmlike vicinity. There is one menu for all the guests. The food is bland and greasy. Breakfast is Turkish, which while fine for some, not great if you want eggs or toast. None of the farm women speak ANY english so that makes all communication difficult. We only met one woman as we arrived who spoke english but then she wasn't very visible subsequently. Internet was terrible we had maybe a window of a half hour over 3 days when we were able to get on.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL IN FACT I DO NOT RECOMMEND FETIYE OR OLU DENIZ FOR THAT MATTER. We loved Istanbul and Pamukkale though.

I found this review as an insult to the 100s of satisfied guests we stayed at Mandarin, the many positive comments we had about the area, the organic food and the staff at Mandarin, especially the dog Pasha, who simply likes playing. The intend of this writting must be for different reasons. All our guests comments can be found on our website, and I do not have to provide anything else...Its self explanatory...Once you read them you will understand....

We have a car park for 4 cars, also parking space along the road. There is a lunch menu available, and if the breakfast was too much and of a high quality eggs on toast are always the least we can serve, which for us is not consider as a delicatessen.Wew only use virgin olive oil,not grease or fat,and our different sauces may not be for the blund taste of some.

We also have very detailed driving instructions on our website, which are precise and clear.
The area is rich in archaeological sites, for those who like culture & history, we have seaviews from all rooms, open gardens and we are not surrounded by farms but by village houses.

To compare a city like Istanbul with 15 million population, with our village is unthinkable, Fethiye is a very Turkish town not a resort nor a city. Those who do such comparisons should not travel.....
In such places internet access can be a problem, especially if there is heavy rains,or storms, once again if tec. aspects of the 21st century are required travel should not be further then your door step...

“A wee paradise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 December 2011

We spend 2 weeks in October. Our first week was organized by Cachet Travel and we walked all along the Lycian Way, some archaeological sites, remote villages, stunning views.our guide was the Managing Director of Cachet, Ghislain which is very knowledgeable about the area.
our second week we hire a car and tour along all the archaeological sites, some stunning beaches with crystal clear waters. The food at the hotel was delicious the rooms spacious with 4 poster beds, clean and large sea balcony. The staff was very friendly and curteous.

“Peace and Tranquility”

My husband and I stayed for 7 nights at this magical hotel! On arrival we were greeted by the petite Manager Aysegul and her team of ladies and Pasha, the beautiful dog! We were shown to our room (No. 5) it was beautiful, very spacious with a jaqcuzzi at one end and sitting area at the other which led to a balcony overlooking the sea! The bathroom was fab - marble and stone with huge rain-shower and again very spacious. The gardens are very well maintained and the smell from the jasmine and honeysuckle hits you as soon as you step out! There is a lovely pool (quite small) and a decking area with very comfortable beds to sunbathe on.

The breakfasts are very good with fresh eggs from their own hens cooked anyway you wished. Homemade bread and rolls with jams and preserves. Also salad and olives - which I never got used to! Afternoon tea was brought round the pool at 4pm everyday with savoury and sweet pastries/cakes. Everyone looked forward to this! Dinner was served between 7.30 - 10pm each evening and was 5 courses! All homemade and utterly delicious! Be prepared to loosen the belt!

We both like swimming in the sea and Aysegul gave us a map and told us the nearest beach was 20mins away - it took us 45mins down a somewhat steep dirt track to get there and 1 and half hrs to get back - it was quite a hike, especially in the heat! But the sea was so clear and warm.

There is a minibus which stops outside the hotel several times a day. We used this to go to Olu Deniz, about 15min drive - best avoided unless you like english breakfasts and burger and chips with everything! Very commercial. We did find another beach where many turkish families went - it was on the bus route and dropped us off outside the national park - pristine beach with sunloungers and unbrellas (payable locally), changing rooms/toilets/showers and small cafe. Really enjoyed snorkelling here - clear, blue sea with lots of marine life to see!

We had a relaxing, peaceful week here. The service was excellent and nothing too much trouble for the happy, smiling staff who enjoyed my attempts at the turkish language! Would stay here again but with car hire next time.

“Lovely but a few things could be improved for the price they charge.”

Had a great stay here for two nights. Was a perfect laidback retreat after a week in kalkan. The staff, garden and pool were lovely as was our room. On the downside the food was not as good as other places we payed a lot less for. Grapes for dessert and poor quality breakfast juice were mean touches. We had a downstairs room which we didn't mind having had amazing views in all our other accommodation but the small private garden we had was badly maintained with patchy bare earth and weeds in the patio and could easily have been made to look lovely like the main garden with a few flower pots and some tlc.

“Hidden Retreat”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 October 2011

This is a hidden gem of a boutique hotel. We arrived at night which was challenging but once we entered through the doors, the scent of jasmine and perfume trees assaulted us and we knew this was going to be something special. It's an eight room villa; our room was spacious with beautifully appointed antique furniture and a giant jacuzzi tub. The bathroom had a walk in glass shower with rainforest shower head and our terrace looked out onto the Mediterranean with a view of Rhodes in the distance. The breakfasts were plentiful, served in the garden, with fresh fruits and vegetables and although we only had one dinner at the hotel, it was beautifully prepared. The grounds are beautiful and the pool area is tastefully designed. The staff is gracious and Pasha the dog is the best! The area is rural; the inn is a perfect place to come back to after a day of exploring. If you'd like to read more about our trip to Turkey, check out my blog http://2atthebar.wordpress.com/
