I have travelled to Goa for the past 12 years and stayed in this hotel several times, my latest visit was for an extended stay and I stayed in the Club rooms situated in the gardens at the rear of the hotel. The Hotel is big enough to get away from it all if you wish and small enough to be intimate and present a friendly warm atmosphere. It has one of the best records of repeat guests in Goa, which speaks volumes for the Management of the hotel, the staff and the amenities it presents. Nothing is to much trouble and the staff ratio to guests is round 2 to 1 which again explains why the services are so good and your every request is acted upon immediately. Guest Relations are always available to sort out any requests or problems you may have in an intelligent and personable manner.
Mondal the head Chef is often to be seen wandering the hotel and restaurants asking guests if everything is okay and if they have any special requests for food. For those who dont like the really spicy Indian food he makes several different continental dishes, whilst I was there we had Chinese, Mexican, English, Itallian and also numerous different Indian dishes, nothing is to much trouble and even the most difficult palates are catered for.
The hotel is like a well oiled machine, extremely high standards of cleanliness, your room is cleaned everyday, towells changed and your room restocked. Every member of staff goes about their business with a smile and remarkably most remember your name, which adds to the friendly feel about the place.
The Animation team although young ensure that you can join in the activities if you wish, but no pressure if you would rather lie back and enjoy the sunshine. For those wanting a little exercise not to mention a laugh there is always the water volleyball held in the pool each day.
The management team including the General Manager Guitry are always wandering the hotel, speaking to the guests and ensuring that any requests you have are aired and dealt with efficiently, they go out of their way to ensure you want for nothing.
Entertainment is first class and regular Gala nights are held outside around the pool which is the focal point of the hotel. This is a major operation but done in an efficient and unobtrusive way and presents the hotel in a different and colourful way, not to be missed.
Situated within a few hundred yards of the beach it is a short walk for those wishing a change of view, and it has to be said that the beach is a splendid place for those long walks in the sun, very quiet and serviced by a lone shack called the Starfish, which is excellent for food and drink. Anthony the manager in the shack will always make you feel welcome wether you are there for a full meal or just a drink.
Should you wish to travel to some of the local towns or villages, I would suggest that you ignore completely the expensive and greedy Taxi drivers parked outside the hotel. Try using the buses from the end of the lane and the train from Cansaulim, a short walk from the hotel, it is a fraction of the cost and you will see Goan life as it really is. What costs you 4 rupees on the train will cost you a 1000 rupees in a taxi, and you wont be taken to shops you dont want to visit so that they can obtain their fees and a large percentage of anything you may buy there. Alternatively use the hotel bikes, its a great way to see the area and also keeps you fit!
All in all a fantastic hotel with great facilities, superb location and the most friendly staff I have ever met, mo wonder guests return time after time, well done all.
