we stayed at this hotel in January 2012 - the staff were lovely but the food was not, it was really basic. the same curry every night, there were other dishes but nothing to write home about. Breakfast was all curry as well aside from the odd fried egg. If you are going to Goa you really need to go 5 star it really is worth the extra couple of hundred pounds. the pool is totally cramped with beds touching each other and if you want to use the other pool you have to climb up so many sets of different steps by the time you finally reach the pool you need a respirator, so it is NOT for older people. Nearly all of the rooms are located around the pool area where the bar was located, people were out there screaming and shouting until 4am, we had to move rooms 4 times. The staff at the hotel were lovely, but the rest was very very disappointing. don't bother. We stayed at the Cidade de Goa last year and it was fantastic, the food was out of this world. The problem with the staff at Sun Village is that they are frightened to say anything to the people who were around the pool area at night! Well, like the rest of Europe, they had better start getting tough on these people or a lot of us will not be going back, it totally ruined our holiday! Next time it will be 5 star. We did speak to other people there who said 'it never used to be like this, we've been coming for years!' but they were also disappointed and the queue to move rooms was getting longer and longer. on the upside, they did have entertainment every night and that was very good.
