“Home from home!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2012

My wife and I have just enjoyed our second visit to Summerwood, and we cannot wait to get the opportunity to visit again. We went on to Franschhoek after this and spent the whole time there wishing we were still in Stellenbosch at Summerwood!

The welcome we received was like long lost friends and made us feel at home straight away. Nothing is too much trouble, drinks are served quickly and it is set up to look after the guests first.

They also book restaurants for you, arrange wine tours and give insight into the local area.

It is one of the friendliest places I have stayed at in the world.

Thank you to Ann and the team :-)

“Wonderful couple of days”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 December 2011

We picked Sumemrwood as our 2nd option for oru stay in Stellenbosch (and I am happy that the B&B we tried to book was full as Summerwood was far better than our first option that was ranked as Nr 1 by Trip Advisor). The rooms are very nice and teh service was impeccable. A nice garden with a pool, lots of sun loungers, grea bfast and a host that will do aything for you make The Summerwood stand out among a lot of nice options in this region. I am a tour operator and we appreciate these places when we find them and will certainly send nour guests to this great place in Stellenbosch. We also had a local guide with us Alan Denman, a fountin of information and a friend we look forward to show us around more wine estates when we get back to Cape Town again.

Room Tip: Ask for upstairs room with pool & garden view

“Great B&B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 December 2011

I wouldn't say this is a hotel, more like a B&B. It was SO charming, and the ladies who work there were very sweet and helpful. Our room was spacious and comfortable. We also had a stand-up shower and a basin tub. They also had flowers and champagne for my new husband and me when we came back to the hotel after wine tasting--a very nice touch! We were only there for one night, and my only wish is that we had stayed there longer.

Room Tip: We stayed on the third floor. Room was large and sunny. Bed was wonderful!

“Everything is taken care of”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 September 2011

Summerwood is ideally located close enough to downtown Stellenbosch to be an easy drive, but far enough to ensure a peaceful sleep on its quiet tree-lined street. The “Ha-Ha” birds can act as your wakeup call for a day wandering through wine country.

Those familiar with Napa Valley will not be surprised by the mix of homey and elegant wineries in the Stellenbosch area. While the area is easy to navigate, getting a driver for us was great advice from the lovely ladies at Summerhouse. From the moment we arrived, someone was always on hand to offer extra wine glasses, call out for gourmet pizza, or provide directions. And yet we never felt like they were intrusive. All of their advice was good – from dinner spots to wineries not to miss.

Our friends had the downstairs room next to the dining room and enjoyed their outdoor patio. We had the spacious upstairs room overlooking the pool. Both were spotless. Breakfast with eggs cooked to order was served in the dining room at individual tables. Decor is lovely but not luxurious. We always felt comfortable.

“Summerwood Guest House”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 September 2011

All the ladies who run this charming guest house are professional and helpful without ever being intrusive. The food and service are excellent, the bedrooms beautifully appointed and the garden is lovely. If visiting Stellenbosch you could not stay at a better place. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: I have stayed twice. I think all the rooms are good.
