“Owner did not feel us welcomed”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 December 2010

This nice house in a beautiful area of Stellenbosch was the picture perfect to decide on the booking. We arrived on Christmas Eve. Were greeted by a young lady who showed us the room. It seems that to maximize space, room are actually with outdoor entrance from the parking, to the pool, to the breakfast area. In other words, it creates the feeling that there is no business or reason to actually enter the house. In fact one afternoon we wanted to enjoy the living room, but it was closed. Owner did not greet us, did no say thanks. Although rooms are nice and spacious, one can hear anyone talking and service from the owner is questionable

“An Average B&B in a quiet neighborhood”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 July 2010

We arrived late in the afternoon on our last day at Western Cape after visiting several vineyards in the area. Simone greeted us at the front desk and showed us the rooms we can pick from. It seems to be a quiet day for them as several rooms are vacant - we picked one on the top floor. Room size's okay with standard amenities and decorations. Not bad per se, but definitely not out of this world. The pictures online looked better than it actually is - much better.

Warn you - the place's in a very quiet neighborhood - so a car's a must esp if you wish to go out for a meal at night. Not a lot going on for breakfast - we were surprised that they didn't even have tomatoes or mushrooms available - only eggs and bacon. We were spoiled with our earlier wonderful stays in B&Bs in Cape Town, but still it seems to be inadequate by any means. And the service seems to be a bit aloof - after Simone showed us the room, she just dissappeared and we never saw her again til the next day, and the other staff didn't show that much enthusiasm at work as we did in the other B&Bs we stayed in Cape Town. Maybe the high vacancy rate damped their mood - who knows.

We booked a while back after we secured our World Cup tickets and paid our room in full. Later on I found out that the room's offered online at almost half the price we paid for, so I emailed to complain and threatened to cancel my reservation for full refund per its reservation policy. Even though Simone later offered us a discount for our room, we still think we were grossly overcharged because of the perceived World Cup peak season, and she failed to deliver the promise of giving us the biggest Honeymoon suite as a concession of charging us higher rate. Anyway these definitely left us with a sour note.

“Superb guesthouse in a beautiful location with friendly staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 May 2010

Had the most memorable trip and enjoyed our stay in the family cottage. The decor is splendid and the surroundings are beautiful. A really well located guesthouse, just far enough away from the busy town and university. A great venue to go and explore the vineyards!!! If the weather had been warmer, the kids would have been in the pool!!! Thank you for making our stay most welcoming and comfortable.

“5 star experience at the 5 Seasons”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 April 2010

Simone and her team couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. A group of us were staying for a wedding and they were so accommodating - even with our impromtu late night party! The facilities and very comfortable and light and we had a beauftiful view of the mountain from our lovely sun terrace. Breakfast can be taken outside which was lovely and the food excellent. Many thanks for helping to make our visit to South Africa so memorable.
