“Like going back in time. Fantastic”

We stayed at the Wigwam for 5 nights during the 1st week of feb, and I cannot say enough about the rooms, food, staff, pools, the list goes on. This place is special, no doubt about it. The beds in our Oasis Terrace room were so comfy, we had a great view of the pool, and was worth the upgrade. We had dinner at their main restaurant "Litchfields" twice with friends, the food was awesome. My favorite place is the Bar and Grill, they have tables outside on the patio with little fireplaces in them, you then order S'mores kits, and roast your marshmellows and make your S'mores yourself. The grounds are lovely and mature due to the age of the place, which has been upgraded and kept so well. My parents had stayed there back in 79, and I have never forgotten the lure of this place, and am so glad we stayed there also. Think the movie "Dirty Dancing" and you are there. Can't wait to go back.

Room Tip: Oasis Terrace rooms on the adult pool are nice and quiet, if you are into golf the Fairview rooms ov...

We just love hearing that your parents stayed with us thirty years ago and now in 2012, you have too! At The Wigwam we consider the hotel staff and guests as one large family transcending time and always expanding. We’re delighted that you enjoyed the rooms, pool, s'mores, restaurants and more. We’ll be anxiously awaiting your return to The Wigwam and we hope it can be soon.

“Old World Class”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

The resort was opened in 1929, and the facilities reflect that history. Although upgraded with most amenities expected of this type of resort, the original architecture remains intact. The grounds were immaculate and accentuated with gorgeous roses that bear plaques describing the awards won in years past. The rooms were spacious and the beds were plush and comfortable. The doors were heavy and thebathroom tile was definitely retro, which added to the "Old World" charm. Great place for a romantic getaway weekend.
When budgeting for this trip, add 20 dollars/ day for "resort use fee" they charge for use of parking, wifi, fitness center, etc. Shouldn't stop you fom going, but it goes down better if you know ahead of time.
If you like hiking, check out the White Tanks Nature Reserve about 25 minutes away. Off the beaten path, lots of classic Seguaro cacti and great views of the valley.

Room Tip: Traditional hotel layout, and individual casitas are both available.

The Wigwam was originally built in 1918, but additional accommodations and many of our amenities were added in 1929. We are delighted that you found such an appreciation for our history, architecture, grounds as well as our guest rooms. If you enjoyed seeing the Saguaro Cactus on your hikes, you may want to come back in May or June when their white flowers with yellow centers bloom; they are beautiful. It would be a pleasure to welcome you back again.

“Oasis in the Desert!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

Excellent experience staying at the Wigwam this past weekend. I've stayed there before but not noticed the roster of outdoor amenities to indulge in during the cooler months when it isn't quite Pool season. There is Bocce Ball, Bean Bag Toss, among other things. There are also ample places to sit back and lounge in the cool crisp Phoenix air!

All of the rooms seem to be redone with modern amenities and a spacious layout.

The golf course is excellent and very atypical of some more desert course here in Arizona.

The service is outstanding, with everyone extremely courteous. You could easily spend hours getting lost in the lobby playing games and reading in the relaxing environment.

The spa is well worth any price they put on it with the serene, relaxing atmosphere.

Red's has a great Happy Hour during the week and the Pretzel Bread and Cheese Dip was delicious!

“The all around destination wedding.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

My daughter was recently married at this beautiful resort. Our friends and family traveled from near and far and everyone was so impressed. We hosted everything there from the welcome dinner, to rehearsal dinner, and breakfast. We erected a beautiful tent on their gorgeous grounds surrounded by palm trees all aglow with amazing lights. The food at the wedding was excellent!!! I cannot say enough kind words about their incredible staff. We know how hard they worked behind the scenes to pull off an incredible wedding, but it was all done with ease. Furthermore, golfing, the spa, pools and accommodation were truly the best. We were so sad to leave this wonderful historical resort. We will never forget them...

“Rest, Relaxation, and Escape in its Truest Form”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

Rest, relaxation, and escape.  This is what vacation is about.  Escape from the cities, escape to the wild, escape to lazy mornings in a rustic den followed by carefree afternoons at water’s edge, all topped with rejuvenating nights around a warm fire.  This is the lifestyle provided by the Wigwam Golf Resort and Spa in Litchfield Park, Arizona.  At the Wigwam, whether for a family vacation or a solo getaway, there is a certain feel of escape from the world, despite being situated conveniently close from downtown Phoenix.  Immediately upon stepping into the lobby, the visitor(s) are removed from the stress of the present day.  Within the lobby is a fireplace surrounded by luxurious furniture finished with a distressed look. The den adjacent to the lobby is the perfect place to kick back in front of a fire after a day of activities or sunbathing.  Of course the walls also possess fantastic ornamentation, lined with shelves of books on the history of Arizona, paintings of cowboys, or antlers to complete the western feel.  In the lobby, the musical talents of Sinatra, Parker, Laine, and other easy listening artists of the 20th century are softly played, adding the perfect soundtrack to the beginning of a relaxing vacation.  Continuing through the lobby and out the back doors, a pool is found just outside.  Surrounding the pool are green spaces and pathways.  It does not take long to notice the absence of buildings cluttering the cloudless, blue sky.  Almost every room has been built as a small villa, thus there are few tall buildings around.  In the back of the property is the spa, golf center, and a tennis center complete with 9 courts including a center court and 2 clay courts.  Just beside the main lobby is a bar, and full restaurant can be found by the golf and tennis centers.
For me, there is no better place to escape than Arizona, and no better place in Arizona than the Wigwam.  Arizona removes tourists from the world unlike anyplace else.  Having vacationed everywhere from California to Europe, it is with confidence that I assert the state of Arizona as the mot relaxing getaway.  I also confidently assert the Wigwam to be the most relaxing of escapes in the Phoenix area, having myself stayed at the Arizona Biltmore and the Farimont Scottsdale Princess resorts. While all three are quality resorts, the Wigwam, with its value for tradition, allows the vacationer to really step back from life while they are away.  The employees work tirelessly to accommodate even the pickiest of travelers.  The rooms are spacious, and the beautiful green gardens mixed with Arizona plant life allow everybody for a breath of fresh air.  Out at the Wigwam, guests do not simply receive a vacation or a box of memories, but instead a necessary pause from life with the ability to step back, smell the roses(or perhaps the cacti), and recompose themselves in an environment of true rest, relaxation, and escape.
