Rest, relaxation, and escape. This is what vacation is about. Escape from the cities, escape to the wild, escape to lazy mornings in a rustic den followed by carefree afternoons at water’s edge, all topped with rejuvenating nights around a warm fire. This is the lifestyle provided by the Wigwam Golf Resort and Spa in Litchfield Park, Arizona. At the Wigwam, whether for a family vacation or a solo getaway, there is a certain feel of escape from the world, despite being situated conveniently close from downtown Phoenix. Immediately upon stepping into the lobby, the visitor(s) are removed from the stress of the present day. Within the lobby is a fireplace surrounded by luxurious furniture finished with a distressed look. The den adjacent to the lobby is the perfect place to kick back in front of a fire after a day of activities or sunbathing. Of course the walls also possess fantastic ornamentation, lined with shelves of books on the history of Arizona, paintings of cowboys, or antlers to complete the western feel. In the lobby, the musical talents of Sinatra, Parker, Laine, and other easy listening artists of the 20th century are softly played, adding the perfect soundtrack to the beginning of a relaxing vacation. Continuing through the lobby and out the back doors, a pool is found just outside. Surrounding the pool are green spaces and pathways. It does not take long to notice the absence of buildings cluttering the cloudless, blue sky. Almost every room has been built as a small villa, thus there are few tall buildings around. In the back of the property is the spa, golf center, and a tennis center complete with 9 courts including a center court and 2 clay courts. Just beside the main lobby is a bar, and full restaurant can be found by the golf and tennis centers.
For me, there is no better place to escape than Arizona, and no better place in Arizona than the Wigwam. Arizona removes tourists from the world unlike anyplace else. Having vacationed everywhere from California to Europe, it is with confidence that I assert the state of Arizona as the mot relaxing getaway. I also confidently assert the Wigwam to be the most relaxing of escapes in the Phoenix area, having myself stayed at the Arizona Biltmore and the Farimont Scottsdale Princess resorts. While all three are quality resorts, the Wigwam, with its value for tradition, allows the vacationer to really step back from life while they are away. The employees work tirelessly to accommodate even the pickiest of travelers. The rooms are spacious, and the beautiful green gardens mixed with Arizona plant life allow everybody for a breath of fresh air. Out at the Wigwam, guests do not simply receive a vacation or a box of memories, but instead a necessary pause from life with the ability to step back, smell the roses(or perhaps the cacti), and recompose themselves in an environment of true rest, relaxation, and escape.
