I absolutely loved my trip to Cape Town and thats still such an understatement- nothing like it! - and this hotel did contribute to that. The view was gorgeous every day when I stepped out on the balcony since all rooms look on the Atlantic and would see Table Mountain to the south, Robben Island in the distance, Blauberg to the North. Such beautiful sunsets as the sun would drop behind Lion's Head. The room was little outdated but overall good. The service of the housekeeping and restaurant areas staff was great. Because my reservation was made through Orbitz it included a buffet style breakfast everyday and I could also order anything from the kitchen as well. Was great for saving money on meals. I think the parking charge for people who are staying more than few days is bit much. I stayed 3 weeks and had to pay R25 per day which was like $75 (total 3 week parking bill) and while cheaper than most US hotels, still... Did laundry several times and the ladies were always good in helping me with it and they received tips for it. Such friendly ladies. My only but biggest issue was when I went to check out. I had verified with front desk about costs of phone calls. Local calls were 59 cents (their currency)/minute, toll-free was, well, free! When I went to check out, they handed me a bill for R5500.90 (about $775). I noticed that some of the calls were during times I wasnt even in the room, I was on the side of Table Mountain climbing- have pictures to prove it with time stamps. I had used a calling card who gave me a local toll-free number to use and they verified it was a toll free number thats the calling card company's business. But the hotel insisted it wasnt toll-free. So I went back later in day and demanded a printout of details of each phone call- couldnt give it to me, we had to go through each call and write details from their computer. When I actually was checking out I was very unhappy and desk personnel went and got the manager who spent all of 10 minutes with me then went back in her office and left an employee and a trainee with me to solve the issue. This issue is still not resolved! I am waiting on accounting personnel to review and resolve this issue. I would NOT stay at this hotel due to beyond poor customer service on the side of the managerial staff- emphasis on managerial!!! Phone card company reverified number and informed me that the hotel was trying to con me so - my advice, if you stay here- CLOSELY watch your bill and DO NOT USE THE PHONE! One other little beef- make sure you take enough adapters for electrical plugs to the large 3 (triangular shaped plugs for 220. There was only one of the small 2 round pronged receptacles in the bathroom. Hope this helps!
