This hotel has a fairly good location, about 5 minutes walk to the waterfront.
The room was a good size, bed comfortable, bathroom fairly good but a bit old fashioned.
We only ate breakfast 2 mornings in the hotel as the quality of food and service on offer was very poor. The staff in the restaurant displayed a complete lack of interest. Most of the fruit tasted as if it came from a tin and the fruit juices were horrible.
We had a room on the second floor which meant that there were no noise coming from rooms above us. However you could hear the floor boards squeaking when you walked in the room. I'm sure that was an annoyance for people in the room below.
There was a noisey air-con unit outside our window (independent of our own air-con unit) that woke us up several times during the night. Also the rooms to the front of the hotel overlook a busy road, traffic starts on this road at about 6 am.
The pool area is fine, we sat there for an hour one evening after coming back from the beach.
Wifi is available but not free. The hallways are very stuffy and the hallways on the first floor look very narrow
My advice would be to stay at The Rex
Room Tip: First floor room facing the back of the hotel would be the quietest

Oh Dear! Something went wrong here! Internally we will address your staff service comments. In 14 years of our management we have become known for exceeding expectations when it comes to service and friendliness. On breakfast quality?? 10 varieties of fresh fruit and just 2 out of season fruits (peaches and Guavas) were choice quality tinned. the four varieties for fruit juice on offer are the best available from a supplier that supplies most of the Garden Route hotels. definitely not cheap and nasty that is also available.
With regards the air-con, we humbly apologize. The adjacent rooms compressor developed a problem during the night and was fixed the following day. all the air-cons are still under warranty and should not have kept you or any other guest from sleep.
I do hope that you brought your concerns to the attention of the manager on duty. We really value any constructive comments that can help us improve your stay and that of other guests.
