We spent two nights at Knysna Country House two weeks ago (jan 2012) and really enjoyed. Ypie and Erik are wonderful hosts and lots of fun. Our room was comfortable. Breakfast was great and plentiful on the terrace in the cool morning air. The pool was one of the largest and cleanest we've seen in South Africa.
On the down side we were upgraded (that's very nice) to a room with a terrace on the western side of the hotel. The room has no shutters nor sun protection and it got very hot in the afternoon.
But on the whole our stay was great and we warmly recommend KCH.

We spent 2 nights at Knysna Country House on our travels through the Garden Route. As we arrived Ypie & Erik were going out but we were left in the capable hands of Kate who showed us around the house and our room. We were given Room 6 which was large and very comfortable with a sofa, masses of storage, and an enormous comfortable bed. The bathroom was also very spacious with a bath, and huge double shower (two shower heads). We also had a balcony overlooking the gardens and the Knysna valley. We spent some time sat on the balcony with a glass of wine, just relaxing. The room contained a mini bar with various drinks including 1/2 bottles of red & white wine. We decided we wanted our own wine but couldn't find any cold, but Knysna Country House had an ice bucket readily available so we were able to chill our wine down nicely! Our hosts were very knowledgable about places to visit, and walks in the area. There was also a book containing menus for a lot of local restaurants, although we ate both nights at Cornuti, a bar/restaurant by the shore at the Eastern Head - two great meals. Breakfast varied on the two days. On the first day we weren't offered a cooked breakfast, although there was plenty to eat, but the second day we were. Not sure why. Although the property is out of the main town, as we had our own transport we didn't feel this was a disadvantage, in fact it had the bonus of being very quiet at night. And the added bonus of a wireless network - something we hadn't had up until that point.

We spend 4 days in Knysna Country House in Jan 2012. We had a bigger standard room (because booking by HRS). The size was very OK, only the location of the other rooms is better. So if you want spend the most time in Hotel, please take the superior room. Breakfast was excellent, especially fruit-choice. We enjoyed a very, very friendly style of Ypie, Erik and Kate, the house owner. You are not alone, they converse with you. Nice and practice pool with pool chairs, not windy. All the atmosphere there was exhilarating. Enough place for the car, you need. Knysna and surrounding is an excellent target on the south coast of South Africa. I would allways favor Knysna over Plettenberg Bay, however you can make a trip there. For all your question, please ask Erik. It was soulful to say goodbye. I wish I could go there again.

In early Jan 2012 we stayed two nights at the Knysna Country House with our two young boy's. Upon arrival we were warmly greeted which made us feel immediately welcomed. The house had a nice relaxing feeling and a beautiful view of the valley.

The family suite had two bedrooms which was perfect for our family. The boys also enjoyed the great large pool.

Breakfast was beautifully served on the deck with great food, juices and assortment of choices.

Overall the place was great and highly recommend it to any future travelers.

As commented by other guests, the house is about 10 minutes from town so you'll need a car or taxi.
