“Hermanus is lovely”

The Milkwood Lodge is a great base for whale watching (about 10 min drive to the town centre) & close to Gansbaai (half an hour) for the sharks. Linda & her husband are very accommodating & knowledgeable & happy to help in any way they can to ensure a great stay.
We had a self catering lodge on a B&B basis which was perfect.
We had a problem finding the place but we had just arrived & picked up a hire car & it was late & dark. Turned out to be quite easy to find in the light of day & Hermanus was generally quite easy to navigate.

Room Tip: Our lodge had quite thin curtains & so it took a few days for us to sleep past 5am (when we had...

“Lovely guest house”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 September 2011

We stayed at Milkwood Lodge for 2 nights during our honeymoon. For a guest house/B&B it is a high standard. I was surprised at how large the rooms were, they werent the most modern but I thought it added to the feel of the place and it was comfortable and clean. The only thing i missed was a dressing table and mirror in the bedroom - the rooms are big enough to have this but the only mirror was in the bathroom. We visited in August so the weather wasnt the hottest but I think in summer the pool and patio areas would be lovely. As hosts George and Linda were very helpful. They managed to answer all our questions and one night when we couldnt get a taxi into Hermanus they offered to drive us in and pick us up which we were very grateful for. During the day we walked along the cliff path into Hermanus from milkwood but at night you really need a taxi. All in all a great stay.

“"Home away from home"”

After returning from living in America, I have just spent 10 days at Milkwood Lodge in Hermanus. Linda and George couldn't have done more; they made me feel at home and I really enjoyed my stay. The rooms are set back from the road in a lovely garden with beautiful old Milkwood trees. I would highly recommend this guest house to anyone looking for upmarket accommodation and personal attention. Linda always seemed to be going 'the extra mile" to make her guests feel comfortable.

“SUPERB!”

Wonderful stay to celebrate my daughter's birthday. Linda and George made us so welcome. She turned herself into a pretzel, creating vegetarian meals for us, and treating us like royalty. This has spoilt us by setting the standard very high! Can't wait to return. Thalia and Nina.

“A comfortable stay in Hermanus”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2011

The Milkwood Lodge is 10km from the centre of Hermanus, which was further than we were led to believe. However, the room was clean and spacious, if a little dated. The hosts were very welcoming and hospitable. They even went so far as lending us long sleeved tops to go kayaking and facililated a late breakfast for us. A lovely stay and walking distance from a beautiful beach.

Thank you for your kind words and response to your stay at Milkwood Lodge.
We appreciate your feedback.
With regard to the location of Milkwood Lodge - we would just like to point out that the entire length of the cliff path, hugging the coastline, from Grotto Beach to the new Harbour is only 11 kms, with the Old Harbour being more or less halfway and also the centre of the Village.
Milkwood Lodge is situated a few blocks above Grotto Beach which is where the cliff path starts.
Therefore we are situated 5 kms from the centre of the Village, and also within walking distance of Grotto Beach, Voëlklip Beach as well as Kammabaai.
You may be a little confused about the distance as your Kayak trip between the Old Harbour and the New Harbour would be approximately 10 kms if you did a round trip.
We look forward to perhaps meeting you again later this year when we have completed our refurbishment program.
