You would be well advised to have proof of payment when you arrive. Any communication with the owner puts you on the back foot. The owner takes no responsiblity for her own incompetence. She is rude, puts down the phone, and in ALL dealings is very unpleasant. The photos do not reflect the fact that the place is tired and tatty, and certainly does not deserve its four stars. The whole experience left us feeling as if we had been in a war! . A Dale Carnegie course would possibly work, but perhaps not in this case.

We tried to book Whale Cottage, but found the owener unhelpful and rude. She insisted on a fax with our personal details, claimed our debit card was not accepted and refused to take the booking.
On our return to the UK we discover that she took a deposit, did not confirm the booking so we had no way of knowing that she had taken the money. Now she keeps putting the telephone down when we try to speak to her.
We are persuing her through our bank as we are so angry that she lets down all the other B&B owners with her attitude.

Despite a written confirmation from the owner Chris von Ulmenstein for 100% payment of 2 rooms we arrived to find only one room was available. Apparently this was due to a booking error by SafariNow- however the owner did not take any responsibility for this and refused to give us access. We paid R2000 for one room despite their booking sheet clearly stating that we had booked 2 rooms and that one room was quote as costing R1200! We then had to go and find alternative accomodation at 7pm at night. Be warned - dont use this establishment or any of the sister guest houses.

This place was amazing! The location is in a beach complex, but what a location - right on the water/rocks with stunning views. We fell in love with this little retreat!! The staff are amazing and friendly and always on hand when needed. We were thoroughly impressed from start to finish! We will return with friends and family in tow.
