We seem to have followed the previous review contributor in for a 3 night stay at 4 Bayview - 3 couples at the end of September 2011, with 5 friends/family from UK. It was the last 3 days of a 15 day tour of the Cape, and what a superb place to stay. We should have made it longer.
The admin and reception by Lynn could not have been better or more helpfully handled. Watch for the very steep location of De Waterkant's main office on Napier Street. As Lynn will remember, it can be a real clutch-burner trying to reverse out of street parking at the office with a big fully loaded vehicle!
The "cottage" itself was excellent, and the unexpected daily maid service was good and very trustworthy. As we were not expecting it we all left a number of things exposed in the rooms, and everything was in place when we returned. Even a 'lost" pair of sunglasses had been found and placed by the bed.
A single - tiny - item for attention was that one of the hand basin tap fittings in the master bathroom was very loose. Otherwise perfect.
The cottage benefited from a private secure parking in the courtyard which in our case was difficult to use due to the narrow street and people-carrier we had, but is a major asset in an area where street parking is at a premium.
The 360-deg views of Table Mountain, bay, waterfront, and city were excellent and - along with the standard and comfort of furnishings - made us wish we had more free time simply to spend at the cottage.
An excellent place for me to showcase South African accommodation to overseas visitors. My partner and I will continue to visit Cape Town from time to time, and have already decided that De Waterkant cottages will be our accommodation of choice. We both hold high standards and are not easily pleased or impressed. Well done!
