I've just come back from a three night stay at 169 Waterkant St, one of De Waterkant Cottages' two apartments.

The two bedroom apartment was spacious, clean and beautifuly decorated. The master bedroom had a king size bed and attached open-plan bathroom, with bath, shower and separate toilet. Kitchen was fully equipped although not enough to tempt us away from the restaurants conveniently located around the corner. The off-street garage parking was also a benefit.

Having visited Cape Town once before and walked around De Waterkant we were keen to take advantage of the central location of the the cottages/ apartments - 10 minutes walk to V&A Waterfront and the city centre (not that you'd walk after dark). Last time we stayed in a B&B towards Table Mountain, which is a beautiful area but not so easy to get around by foot.

The only slightly sour note was at the end of our stay - having planned around the official checkout time of 11.00am the cleaners arrived at 10.40, sat in the kitchen and refused to come back later. We did receive an apology from reception, but it was a little bit of a hassle.

We had a wonderful week in 23 Loader Street. The location is excellent, with walking distance to great restaurants, bars and shopping. Completely safe area. The apartment was brilliant with a nice jacuzzi on the roof, and interesting architecture. Most be one of the best bathroom in the world! We will definitely come back!!

We rented 80 De Waterkant street through De Waterkant Cottages. They were very helpful, arranged a driver from and to the airport, and were incredibly helpful with all travel information. The cottage itself was large and beautiful with a roof top deck, and new kitchen. This stay was the highlight of our 20 days in Africa. De Waterkant neighborhood was exactly what we were looking for, very quaint, centrally located, amenities right around the corner, the best coffee shop down the street and a very nice grocery store a block away. Highly recommended, you will not be disappointed, we didn't want to leave and can't wait to come back. Best value, classy accommodations, beautiful location.

The rooms are very modern and comfortable. Large living room and kitchen. Well appointed and decorated. Staff was helpful with our requests. Good views in particular from rooftop.

The area around the place is great with a small mall, grocery store, and several restaurants in easy walking distance.

For us - a family with small children - it was a bit overkill in terms of furnishings and style. We would probably go with something a bit simpler next time and save some money.

Small issues - Note that you have to pay extra if you are arriving after 17:00 and also if you want to use the WiFi service. In particular the second was not good news given the daily room rate.
