My fiancée recently proposed to me, and spoiled me by booking a night in this lovely romantic boutique hotel a stones throw from the sea. After trawling around most of the spots in the area, he decided this was by far the best place. Johann one of the owners helped him plan everything to the last detail, including flowers and champagne in our stunning air conditioned room with jacuzzi bath, which had a massive balcony overlooking the sea. The food and hospitality is flawless, (breakfast is AMAZING, a selection of nicely timed light courses) a definite recommendation if you are looking for a quiet getaway, they make you feel like you are the only guests. Sundowner on the porch? champagne in the hot tub? waking up to the sound of the sea? You wont get much more relaxing than this.

Melkbos itself has all the amenities, bars, restaurants, which all run along the same stretch all within walking distance.

One of the finest (top 3) places we have ever stayed. We are already planning a return trip. Hugo & Johann are fantastic hosts friendly and very concerned about the comfort and experience of their guests.
The staff is very helpful and attentive.
The view is magnificent. About 30 yards from the beach, a simple walk across the street and we were strolling along the white sandy beaches. Right whale pods can be seen from the deck and Orca are also within view with binoculars.
Hugo and Johann have an intimate knowledge of the area and can advise one on places to eat, shop and even haircuts (I had one of the best ever at a local shopping center).
All-in-all it truly was one of the best ever stays we have had. The Gregorian cannot be recommended highly enough, we are looking forward to returning and staying on our next trip out to Cape Town.

I travelled with my husband to South Africa for a short holiday. The rooms were very nice, however not serviced during our 3 night stay, beds not made, toilet paper not replaced, etc.
Breakfast was served by the owner who was very unprofessional. Fantastic location right on the beach though. We felt unsafe in the guesthouse as the doors were not locked at night. Unfortunately I paid in advance, and could not leave. When I confronted the owner about his poor service and standards, he became very aggressive and refused to give our money back or even to give us some discount. I was 6 months pregnant at the time and was very disappointed as this was our last holiday together before our baby arrived in June this year. This was our worst accommodation experience ever.
