“Highly recommended”

Nothing was too much trouble for Carol & Jo who were the perfect hosts at this lovely boutique hotel near Kloof Street. It’s location making it accessible to all of the attractions either on foot, taxi or the city tour bus.

The hotel itself is in pristine condition, stylish and modern throughout with interesting artwork.

Our room overlooked the pool/garden and again was decorated and finished to a very high standard.

Breakfast was an absolute feast with lots of choice; cooked to order…..delicious.

The pool area had a hot tub and lovely comfortable sun loungers.

We were made to feel incredibly welcome; given some fantastic restaurant and attraction recommendations. There were so many little extra touches like the complementary slippers, bathrobes, sherry & port, cakes & biscuits and mobile phone all making our stay extra special.

“Excellent once again!”

I stayed at Derwent House for my 5th Xmas in a row. I choose Derwent House because it manages to be incredibly stylish and homely at the same time. Carol & Jo are the perfect hosts with enough energy to supply the national grid! All in all a wonderful stay...once again!

Room Tip: Room 4 is my favourite with views out to Table Mountain

“Amazing start to our honeymoon”

Stayed here for the first five nights of our honeymoon at the start of January and it was one of the highlights of our trip. Carol and Jo, the owners, are so welcoming and really went the extra mile to make our stay memorable. The location off Kloof street is ideal, loads of nice restaurants within walking distance. The breakfast was fantastic, the guesthouse itself is beautiful, there was pretty much nothing we could fault about our stay here.
Would highly recommend it and would definitely come back.

“Just as good the second time”

We recently returned to Derwent House for our second visit. We had such a nice experience previously that we didn't even think twice about staying somewhere else. And our faith and expectations were more than re-paid.

This is a very classy place run by two lovely owners, Carole and Jo, who take serious pride in what they do. They would be hard pressed to improve the experience. We stayed in the apartment as we have a young daughter and would highly recommend this to others with kids. In our view it is very good value while you have total access to (and all the benefits of) the main building and its facilities.

We recommend this place to everyone we know heading to South Africa and hope to be back ourselves in the not-too-distant future. It is a real home away from home and quite simply the best accommodation experience we've ever had.

Room Tip: Ask Carol about, restaurants, wine and wine trips. Her insights and ideas are far better than anyth...

“A very special place”

I am SO glad that I booked Derwent House for our first trip to Cape Town. I don't know how Carol and Jo find the energy to be such welcoming and considerate hosts, but they really do go the extra mile. Their enthusiasm for the city is infectious, and they took a genuine interest in our holiday experience (and put up with our endless questions and requests for cabs). The guesthouse itself is a wonderfully calm, airy and attractive place to return to after a day on the tourist trail. Our room had two balconies, and it was actually quite hard to leave in the morning (rather than just stay in the hotel reading and using the pool). The food at breakfast was very good, but the masterstroke was the honesty bar - so well stocked and all immaculately clean.

We loved the location just off Kloof Street, so glad we were staying up near the mountain and not down by the waterfront (which is just a few mins away in a car). So many cute places to eat and shop nearby - particularly enjoyed our simple lunches at Melissa's and dinner at Cafe Paradiso.

Thank you Carol and Jo for making it such a magical experience, and I really hope to return before too long.
