We have previously stayed at this B&B in December 2010 and had booked two rooms for 6 nights over Xmas 2011, paying deposits of over 5,000 Rand in January 2011. Imagine the shock when we received this e-mail from the B&B's payment portal last week

I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news but thought it appropriate to alert
you of 79 on Orange's closure. We by chance discovered that they did not
make any arrangements for their "future" bookings. We have tried to trace them and have since learned that they have been declared insolvent and that the property was sold on auction.

Philip has been most helpful but we are currently minus 5K rand and had nowhere to stay in peak season for six nights. Whilst feeling sad that the owners have had a hard time, it is inexcusable that they did not let us know - what would we have done arriving on the doorstep on 21st December to be told there was no room(s) at that particular inn??
This leaves a very sour taste in the mouth!!
