We stayed at 79 on Orange for four days in May, 2011. Throughout our stay we were made to feel most welcome by Mark and Ivan and we enjoyed our daily conversations with each of them over breakfast, tea or a glass of wine. They were invaluable resources as we planned our day's activities and we immediately trusted their advice about sightseeing and visiting Capetown's many attractions. They were more than willing to arrange any reservations that we needed and often had personal contacts they could consult. Their restaurant recommendations were so spectacular that we ate at one place twice. (Societi) We learned so much about the history of both Capetown and South Africa as we had our daily discussions and their tips about wine tasting destinations and the Cape peninsula drive(we had a rental car) were excellent. We even loved teh pets who reminded us of home. (friendly dogs and cats.)
Their B&B is an old, very comfortable home and we had a very large room on the ground floor and full access to the living room and dining room. The location on Upper Orange Street was in a quiet neighborhood and looked out at Table Mountain. It was also not far from the tram station. (visit the top!) If you had no car, it would be a taxi ride to the waterfront.
All in all, we would highly recommend a stay at 79 on Orange, especially if you enjoy interaction with the owners as we do. It was a great finish to our month in Africa.
