“Heavenly”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 March 2007

We have recently returned from a wonderful trip to Cape Town where we were recommended to stay with Bernadette and Julian at Ezulwini House. Ezulwini translates from a Zulu word meaning Heavenly or Paradise and our stay was certainly that!

We were originally booked to stay for 6 nights but we forfeited our deposit at our next planned guest house and stayed for a further 5 nights!

Bernadette and Julian have renovated the entire house to a very high standard and our deluxe room was better than expected with a superb bathroom with walk-in shower. The views from the bedroom and the balcony where fantastic breakfasts are served are simply breathtaking.

The house is situated on the lower slopes of Table Mountain in a very exclusive and safe area. On a clear day views stretching right across False Bay to Blouberg and beyond can be seen. At night, enjoying a cool glass of wine while watching the city come alive at night is something else.

Bernadette and Julian are perfect hosts and went to great lenths to make our stay fantastic. They recommended restaurants to go to (and made reservations), taxi bookings and shopping advice.

Ezulwini House is simply superb and deserves to be number one in the rankings. My only problem with this is it's going to be harder to make a reservation in future as I can see it becoming very full!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

“Thanks Bernadette, Julian, Isabella, Catherine and Vanilla!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 March 2007

Sim and I had a great time at Ezulwini's. We stayed for 5 days in early March. We love the breakfasts served on the terrace, even when it was windy. Had fun playing with Vanilla, the resident Maltese poodle and our bed was very comfortable.

We would highly recommend this place for anyone or families visiting Capetown. It is much more personal than any hotel and you will feel right at home with the hosts, I must say they were absolutely charming without being intrusive.

“Wonderful!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 March 2007

We have just returned from our first trip to Cape Town and had the most wonderful time. We stayed at Ezulwini House having had it recommended from another guest house in the area. We couldn't have been more pleased with our choice.

The house is absolutely beautiful. Bernadette and Julian have decorated it to a very high standard. The bedrooms were immaculate. We stayed in the luxury room which has a larger balcony and full bathroom. The views over Cape Town whilst in the bath are stunning.

Bernadette and Julian were very good hosts and couldn't do enough for us from recommending restaurants, to booking taxis to actually taking us to Camps Bay to serving a lovely glass of chilled wine at sundown. Breakfasts were superb - lovely fresh fruit salad, yoghurts, cereals and a full english breakfast cooked to order. Warm coissants to follow. All this served on a lovely balcony overlooking Cape Town. At the front of the house are wonderful views of Table Mountain and as soon as the mountain looks clear it is well worth a visit to the top for the spectacular views.

They also have a wonderful little dog called Vanilla - she is simply gorgeous - so friendly and cute. I defy anyone not to fall in love with her! We wanted to take her home with us.

We decided we wanted to hire a car for a couple of days - something out of the ordinary - as usual Bernadette came up with the goods - a Cobra!! For those not familiar with this type of car just take a look at the pic to get an idea! We would describe it as driving a spitfire through the mountains - simply wonderful and very much a head-turning car. If you are interested then contact dean@capecobrahire.co.za who was extremely helpful or view their website capecobrahire.co.za - you won't be disappointed.

We are already wanting to plan our next visit because we enjoyed it so much - we can't wait to return to Ezulwini House - it is one of the best places we have stayed in.

You will not be disappointed. Enjoy!

“Relaxing pampered home away from home luxury”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 March 2007

March 2007 was our second stay at Ezulwini House, as my husband and I have visited Cape Town for 2 consecutive years in March to ride in the Cape Argus cycle tour.
This cosy guest house has beautifully furnished rooms, all with super modern en suite bathrooms. (The beds are very roomy and very comfortable, an important consideration for us, as a good night's sleep before our 110 km cycle is esssential!)
It is centrally situated and has superb views of Lion's Head and Signal Hill, as well as the Cape Town CBD and harbour. Sitting enjoying a hearty breakfast or a sundowner on the balcony, taking in the breathtaking views felt almost surreal. The hosts Bernie and Julian really add the magic touch as they were so willing to meet our every need and more!

“Just wonderful!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 February 2007

We had a wonderful time at the Ezulwini House! This B&B is excellent for a relaxing stay. The location is great with amazing views from every room across Cape Town. Everything can be reached in 10-15 minutes, whether it is the cable car station (check the view from the entrance hall to see if the mountain is clear) or to the waterfront. The house is beautifully decorated and the rooms are comfortable with the best beds ever. The breakfast is delicious with fresh fruit salad and your breakfast cooked to order every morning! If that is not enough, Bernadette and Julian are fantastic hosts! They helped us with sightseeing questions, lunch/dinner suggestions (we have not been disappointed once), diamond jewelry questions, etc. They are just fun to come "home" to. Over complimentary afternoon tea or wine in the evening, you have somebody with whom to share your stories! Just pure pleasure with a personal touch!
