I stayed in the Fire and Ice Hotel in August 2011 for 2 nights and thorougly enjoyed my stay. The hotel was very modern and the staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. I rented a car and since I am American it took a bit of getting used to driving on the opposite side of the road, but the parking attendant at the hotel helped me park every time I pulled into the garage. The hotel was located within walking distance of some of Cape Town's best attractions and the breakfast was amazing! Clean, quiet "trendy" hotel. Great city, great hotel with great staff, I loved Cape Town and I hope I get to stay at this hotel on my next trip there! I am a hotel General Manager here in the states and it was nice to be looked after so well!

This hotel's expectation created on Internet and reality is as wide as the canyon. The room is so small that you pay an expensive price for a room the size of a Formule one hotel room. The bathroom is so small you hit yourself if you turn. The bed is in such a bad state remember to bring along pills you'll need it every morning. The staff is the most unfriendly bunch of people I have ever met in my many stays at other hotels/or other accommodation. The decision to spend a special time at this hotel was the worst decision ever made and as a special time cannot be relived, we will never remember this as the anniversary we decided to spend in a special place.

This was our first stop on our 3 week South African honeymoon. We enjoyed staying here, the decor was modern and funky, most of the staff were reasonably friendly and it is well located if you want to stay in Central Cape Town. Breakfast was pretty good, with a chef on hand to cook eggs how you like and a good selection of cooked items. The continental items could have been better presented in order to prevent flies and insects. The bar prices are reasonable and the milkshakes are out of this world...the double espresso one is an excellent way to cool down and perk up at once.

We felt that if you scratched under the surface slightly, the hotel was a little grubby around the edges and could have been cleaner. Some of the staff seemed to be quite grumpy and there also seemed to be a large number of them who hung around the reception area with little purpose Also, we had no real reason to be staying in Central Cape Town and on our return journey we stayed in Camps Bay...it was much more up our street, less urban and more relaxed but still with plenty to do/places to eat and wonderful beaches. My advice, when in South Africa, don't stay in Hotels, stay in B&B's and Guesthouses.

Overall, Fire & Ice was ok....but I wouldn't be going back.

Very trendy hotel in the Long Street area which has great nightlife. Good welcome and check in was effortless. Parking on site ( lift didn't work). Nice pool but not in sunlight. Adequate gym. We stayed in a superior room, which was small but adequate. Room was well furnished and modern. Bathroom was not private (fortunately the loo was). The only issue was that Water pipe and drainage sounds were heard through the night.
Aside from the bathroom sounds, I wouldn't mind staying there again, its design suits the young person. Free wifi was a nice touch and bar prices were reasonable
