If you are visiting the Cape you could do a lot worse than paying a visit to the District Six museum followed by a night or so spent at Kopanong B&B. Most people we spoke to thought we were crazy to risk driving into the township at Khayelitsha & spending a night there. In fact it turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip. It was easy to find with excellent directions given by Thope - our host. We had a great walking tour guided by her daughter Mpho - enabling us to meet the locals who seemed genuinely happy to see us there - followed by an excellent evening meal. The ensuite room was spotlessly clean - if a little noisy as the main road was quite close with traffic starting around 5 am. Breakfast was a real feast to send us on our way. At no time did we feel uneasy during our visit - all our initial anxieties were completely unfounded. If you want to meet local people & hear their stories first hand spend some time here - you will not be disappointed . We found it inspiring & uplifting.
