“A Boutique Experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

I loved DLL! It's in a great area, right in the hip part of Capetown, the rooms are clean and the front desk is super helpful. Each room has a different theme, and some are a bit much to take, but it definitely makes for an interesting stay!
My only complaint would be that the wireless internet isn't free (and is a little pricey), and didn't even work much of the time, though I paid for it. Sort of frustrating, but there are 2 computers in the lobby with free Internet. Also, some of the rooms can be a tight squeeze with 2 people.

I'd highly recommend Daddy Long Legs, especially since it is all quite affordable!

“Bit underdone”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 January 2012

Expected a bit more creativity as far as the rooms are concerned. Parking is a HUGE problem, especially across the road, with that parking marshal. The hotel can arrange parking at the hospital about two blocks away, at an additional cost, from 16:30 to 8:30, but for the rest of the day it's your problem. Staff not very professional, woke us up early morning while talking very hard on the phone, laughing etc. We had to ask for toilet paper. Reception staff watch movies on the internet, which makes the connection sooo slow that is does not really help having it available to help guests. The lady at reception said the bar is available 24 hours, but it is not.
We also asked if it will be possible to have more pillows, because the pillows were very flat and the lady said unfortunately all the rooms are booked and the do not have spare pillows?????

Hi there!

Thank you for your feedback, and we do always value this. Here, at Daddy Long Legs we always aim to better our service.
We have procedures in place to ensure your stay is great and we will definately follow up on your concerns.
Please note that parking is a tough one in Cape Town and that we managed to secure 2 parking bays for our guides.
I will personally talk to my staff speaking loud in reception and tell them to lower the volume early in the mornings.
Our staff are not allowed to watch movies on the internet and they are very aware of this. I will also look into this. Currently the internet in the whole of South Africa is still not up to Europe or USA speeds.
Our bar is open 24 hours to all our hotel guests, but not to the public though.

Kind Regards and again thank you for your feedback. This will be followed up :)

“Great for a few nights in Long street”

The hotel is clean and comfortable. The rooms are fun, small and basic. The place suited our needs - somewhere to sleep while enjoying the bars and restaurants of the city. The walls are thin so any noise from downstairs filters through. There is no free wifi or parking provided, however this can be arranged at a cost. Reception was friendly with good recommendations for restaurants in the area.

“very hip”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 December 2011

For the cool kids. Great redesign of an old building, with a lot of character. Reception was very friendly. I stayed in the 501 room (as in Levi's), the drawback of which was that it doesn't have an external window, it's window faces onto an atrium, in which for some odd reason smoking is allowed. So the smoke drifted into the room. It's an old building so noise travels. Expect to know when people are moving around. I was woken early in the morning with breakfast prep noises. But an acceptable price to pay for an eccentric hotel.

Room Tip: 501 room only had window onto atrium in which smoking is allowed. The Emergency Room looked like it...

“Disapointing”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 December 2011 via mobile

We expected more. Our room was very small, not clean and certainly not hip or trendy. Everything in the rooms look old and worn and is badly finished. There is no free wifi and for your breakfast you have to go to a lunchroom nextdoor. Vouchers are not included! The rooms are also pretty noisy, so bring ear plugs.

Hi there

Thank you for the valued response. We do proud ourselves in our uniquenes and cleanliness of our rooms. Therefore we are quite dissapointed to hear of your experience. We do have a system in place to ensure rooms are cleaned everyday, however this is not good enough and we will certainly address this matter.

As for the breakfast, we do not have a restaurant, but have a partnership with a trendy caffe downstairs from us. Not sure why you were under the impression that we include breakfasts, as our policy have always been R50 extra for breakfast. The voucher can be bought at our reception.

Please feel free to contact us again once you are back in our lovely Mother city and we will change your perception to what we are famous for on Trip advisor. Unique, clean accommodation at a affordable price. The room will be "on the house" as a token of our apologies!

Warm Regards
