I was visiting Cape Town not for a holiday but for family reasons. From the moment I arrived at Blackheath Lodge, to be greeted cordially by Michelle, I was treated wonderfully well. Owing to a very early flight arrival from London, I couldn't yet get access to my room. It didn't matter: I was able to shower in the facility outside by the pool, change into fresh clothes and have a delicious breakfast so that when I met up with my brother I was fresh and raring to go! When I was able to get into the room, I was mightily impressed with the spaciousness, light, cleanliness and decor. Stay in a room at the top of the lodge if you can. Nothing was too much of a problem for Michelle, with her ready smile and hospitality and this extended, too, to all the staff. An unusual and very heart-warming aspect of Blackheath Lodge is the commitment that Antony and John have made to ensure that their staff and children are provided for. There is no shortage of guesthouses in Cape Town: I am delighted that I chose Blackheath Lodge.

My husband and I stayed here for the first few nights of our honeymoon, back in November, and it was perfect. The bedroom and bathroom were gorgeous, really beautifully decorated and really comfortable. All the staff were charming and extremely helpful. The breakfast was delicious, plentiful and varied and the location was excellent. The main sights and places to eat were all fairly nearby and it was always easy to get taxis. There were several additional touches which really made a difference - we arrived fairly early in the morning so could not yet access our room, but the hotel has an extra bathroom for people in that position to use, so we were able to have showers and go out and visit Cape Town straight away. When we came back later in the afternoon, our room was ready and our bags were already in it. Also I had contacted the hotel in advance as it was my husband's birthday the day we arrived, and they organised a fantastic birthday cake as a surprise for him. The other thing we really appreciated was that the staff had excellent knowledge of nearby restaurants and gave excellent recommendations based on specific requests from us.

We spend 10 days in Cape Town and loved everything. The Blackheath Lodge was very important to make this trip unforgetable...Anthony and all the people work hard to help in all you need, specially our friend Jean Claude! The breakfast is delicious! If want to go to Cape Town, you want to be there!

My wife and I have stayed in Blackheath Lodge for six nights and we have definitely not regret it. We have been looking for hotels for a long time and decided to stay at the Blackheath after the great reviews that we have read on Trip Advisor. The stay was great. The location was great. The service exceptional, since it was one of the warmest and most welcoming staff and owner that we have ever came across. It was a different very homy experience and all the staff made us feel at home right away. Anthony the owner was very attentive and helpful, always at our disposal for advice on restaurants or places to visit. It was definitely one of the places that we would go back gladly. We recommend highly the Blackheath lodge to all travelers that want something special, something more personal and intimate and yet luxurious.
