“Don't look any further if overpriced large hotels don't appeal to you.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 October 2010

This was my second visit to this hotel. The welcome and the service was just as good as the first time. Even after 2 years the staff remembered me and gave me a warm welcome. The hotel is small, but everything is very clean and presentable. There is a small swimming pool in a small yard where the guest can relax. The reception is first class, very efficient and very very friendly. The breakfast is well presented and more than adequate. The location opposite the newly built stadium is very good, being only a short taxi ride or only 20 to 30 mins walk from the centre. There are good restaurants just next door to the hotel. If I go back to Cape Town, Hotel Graeme would be my first port of call.

We won a charity auction for a night at the hotel which in effect was about half-price. However, I would happily have paid the full price.
The Hotel is situated directly across the freeway from the new Capetown Stadium that was built for the recent Soccer World Cup. It is very well placed for the Waterfront, Seapoint promanade and the city. We parked our car in the free, small parking area at the back and walked everywhere. The room was smallish but adequate with a double bed, air-con (and a fan) and the ensuite toilet had a huge shower. There was a television in the room. There is a small fibreglass pool in excellent condition on the premises but at 22 degrees was too cold for us. The hotel is a bed-and-breakfast operation and the breakfast was outstanding. Both hot and cold with excellent service. Internet access is available in the lobby .
There is a "pub" right next door-a bit pricey- and a reputable steak house on the other side. We had dinner at an Italian restaurant 150 metres away and there are many other eating places within a short walk..

“Great all-round hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 July 2010

We stayed at Hotel Graeme during the World Cup period which was fantastic since it is directly opposite the beautiful, new stadium. The location is certainly a plus as it is along Main Road in Greenpoint, with its many restaurants & bars. Certainly lively during the World Cup! It's also a short drive or even walk to the V&A Waterfront or Sea Point.
We had an agent book us the hotel and they laughably failed to give the hotel our names. This made it difficult for hotel staff to confirm that we had even booked a room. But they were very helpful and had it sorted out within minutes. Their small car-park at the back of the hotel was secure and convenient to use.
Our room was spacious (2 bedrooms + 2 additional sofa-beds in the living room). Apart from looking a touch dated (period-style according to the hotel!) and a faulty tap fixture in the bathroom, the room was fantastic and very comfortable.
Breakfast was great and the staff at the hotel were helpful and genuinely friendly the whole time. Certainly a good place to stay if you want to be in the Greenpoint area.

“Great value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 February 2010

Paid R550 a night in Feb 2010 and had a nice room, even though it was a smoking room you could not smell any smoke! The breakfast was great too. Front desk very friendly and organized me transport to Tygervalley with the hotel Mercedes Benz (R300), felt like a VIP being driven there. Nice location and clean comfortable room and great bathroom. I spent one night at the Seagull holiday apartments just 2 doors away and it was disgusting. This hotel is great value and good service.

“fulfilled my purpose”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 January 2010

Travelled to Cape Town with my son, who is in his 20s to visit my dad who lives there. Stayed in Graeme Hotel because it was just round corner from dad's appartment. Was pleasantly surprised. Had read reviews that hotel had no bar but that is no longer the case. Hussar Grill next door has extended its smoking section into hotel and there is a door linking bar with hotel. Had drinks there a couple of times on way home. Have read about ice-cream parlour in hotel but that no longer exists. Think that's now the bar. Great ice-cream on sale 20 metres away if required.
Rooms are non-smoking but just step outside onto decking and you can have a puff. Pool is really only plunge size. We were lucky as could use my dad's pool but it has loungers & umbrellas which never seemed to be crowded.
Situation is very good, about 10mins walk from V&A Waterfront and accross road from world cup stadium. Great views of Table Mountain and brill ambience at Waterfront.
There are more luxurious hotels in the area but the Graeme offers great value for money. Breakfasts cooked to order, rooms cleaned every day, great location. Plenty restaurants nearby. Very good for somewhere to shower & sleep. Not somewhere to spend whole day.
