“Brilliant hotel, superb location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2012

I stayed in the Graeme Hotel for the last couple of nights of December 2011. I booked a single room on a B&B basis and I was very impressed. Staff were friendly and helpful. The room was spotless and bright with tv and air-con. The en-suite bathroom was equally clean and airy, no complaints on the accommodation front. But the piece de resistance was the hearty scrumptious breakfast! Served until 10am it consisted of the usual fresh fruit, juices and cereals plus an excellent cooked breakfast menu which had bacon, eggs, sausages, tomato, beans et al, a truly wonderful feast that sets one up for the day. My next point is the location of the hotel, absolutely perfect for the Waterfront, a 10 minute stroll away and a safe stroll I might add. Next door to the hotel is a great little pub called the Slug & Lettuce, a fabulous waterhole that also serves tapa's and excellent other dishes and indeed all along the Main Road there are umpteen other top class eateries and retail outlets. I give this hotel a top rating, when you visit Cape Town, try it yourself, you will be impressed! I cannot conclude without mentioning the new "MYCITI" bus service. From just across the road from the hotel one can jump on a bus from the "Stadium" stop into the "Civic Centre" stop in the city for 5 Rand and from there to the airport for 50 Rand, it is safe, efficient and great value so don't waste your money with taxis or shuttles, this does the job for a fraction of the price!

“Hard to beat”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 December 2011

The Hotel Graeme served as the home-base for a two-week Cape Town stay with a group from Virginia.
All in all - Hotel Graeme is hard to beat.
LOcation is definitely it's strongest point. You are literally, right across the street from the new soccer stadium - a short walk to the V&A Waterfront - and close to many convenient shops (including a deli, a great gelato shop, a liquor shop, post office, etc.).
The breakfast (which ranges to fresh fruit, cereal, and breads to a full "English" hot breakfast) was always good.
There is also an attached pub which was great for an end-of-the-day cocktail, people watching, and taking in some televised Cricket - even if you don't understand the rules!
The rooms are spread out and some require navigating a back stairway and various twists & turns but nothing too difficult.
My room had a shower that slightly leaked but this wasn't a big deal and was easily made up for in the fact that the staff was extremely helpful and very friendly. Example - I needed to have some clothes washed during our stay and they quickly & conveniently arranged for those to be sent out in the morning to a local cleaners and returned by the end of the day.
Cape Town is a one-of-a-kind city and definitely worth the travel and the Graeme served as a more than adequate place to stay.

Room Tip: A few in my party received rooms in the front "half" of the hotel and those seemed to prov...

“AMAZING HOME FROM HOME”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 November 2011

Thank you to Mary and her team at a Hotel that made us feel so at home.
Could find no faults with the service , kindness and eagerness of the staff here.(0214349282 ) We were within easy walking distance of the V&A Waterfront but also frequented the pubs and Restaurants next door. This could easily be a 4 star hotel but they prefer to stay 3 to help the sleepers pockets i Think ?
We also found Cape Tours With Mac through their breakfast menu advert and were very happily transported around by Mac himself for the duration of our stay ( 0822599950 ) which was amazing as he kept our days full even when the weather was not working with us.

“Cosy home away from home”

The hotel is a quaint, cosy home away from home.
I was travelling with my 2 girls, ages 2 and 9, so the hotel was perfect for little hands and curious minds.
The staff were all very friendly and eager to assist with advice or washing of baby bottles!
The hotel is also perfectly situated, so that all attractions, transport and shops are easy accessible.
I'd stay definitely stay at Hotel Graeme when next I'm in Cape Town
