“Friendly staff - great breakfast”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 March 2011

Located in the quiet Garden district, you can reach the central parts of Cape Town by a15 minutes walk from here. The rooms are quite old and basic, but they are clean and cozy.
The hotel staff is very helpful when it comes to assist you with tips for activities, bookings etc. Free wifi (although the wifi signal is to weak to cover all rooms, so you might have to use your computer in the lobby area).

There are plenty of good restaurants in the area. The hotel breakfast is excellent.

“Excellent location and value for money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2011

Great location only a few minutes walk from long street, and relatively easy access to the waterfront and table mountain. Excellent value for money - it was clean, friendly staff, small pool area but good considering it is a city hotel! Would definately stay there again and recommend it to family and friends! Fantastic restaurants only a few minutes walk away - highly recommend "Arnolds"!

“The Perfect Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 September 2010

This hotel is perfect for the budget traveller as it's well positioned next to the shadow of Table Mountain, and only a 15min walk to the V&A waterfront to get a taxi costs around 30 or 40 rand about £4 which is quite cheap. The hotel will call one for you and it's there in a minute , nothing is too much trouble for the guys on the reception especialy Justin who helped me out with a small problem, they have all the information you need to get around I.E trips around Cape Town and even organise them for you. As for the rooms they are basic but comfortable, no tea or cofee facilites which would have been ok although they have this 24hrs next to the bar . As for the bar we found the prices very reasonable which was quite surprising , the resident barman Ayanda top bloke, always a smile and a laugh for everyone. If you are planning a trip up to Table Mountain it's best to check with reception as the cable car shuts at a moments notice at the sign of any wind , one phone call saves a wasted journey. As for the restaurant the food itself was pretty good with a mixed variety for everyone, the place was clean and the table sevice was good my only gripe was the breakfast buffet hotplates were not hot enough which resulted in the food being cold at times. My one main temporary complaint was we had to be there when there were two conference's taking place which resulted in a lot of alcohol fueled shouting screaming and door slamming late at night and early morning, which spoiled an other wise pleasant stay i did mention it to the management who promised to look into it. A night time curfew would be the answer, As for the location itself we found it very safe by day and night i only saw two beggers a polite no was enough for them, this hotel was also next to the shops and many restaurants just minutes away which was very handy . So give this hotel a chance you won't be disapointed.....

“Nice quiet hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 September 2010

We stayed in Room 206 (facing Union St) as part of a tour group. The room was clean and basic with comfortable beds. There is no fridge in the room but tea and coffee is available in the dining area for free. The staff are very friendly and the hotel is located in a safe suburb close to restaurants on Kloof St. The only downside was the shower which was really bad as the cold tap handle kept falling off and the water was either too hot or cold (might just be a problem in our room). I would recommend this hotel for budget travellers.
