“Great place to stay in Cape Town”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

We spent a week at An African Villa which is perfectly situation in Tamboerskloof so in the city bowl which gives you easy access to the city, the Water Front, and to get up Table Mountain. The rooms are a really nice size particularly for people like us as we have huge amount of luggage. The people who run An African Villa are charming, easy to talk to, and give great advice on restaurants and what to do. The breakfasts which are included in the tariff are delicious and service, excellent. Its a lovely setting with a small swimming pool outside for breakfast or if the weather is inclement, a good setting inside the house. If you hire a car, there is permanent security guard who patrols the street. So its really safe.

Room Tip: The rooms facing the street are much bigger and you dont hear any noise. They are called the Platin...

“Feeling at home in Cape Town”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2012

The owners Jimmy, Louis, Cindy and Keith are always there taking care of us. We stayed there over new year's holidays for seven nights. Our room was at the ground floor facing the street, and it was very quiet, no noise at all. The Villa is located in a quiet residential neighborhood and has a beautiful interior design. In the back there is a little pool and backyard, where breakfast was served.
We didn't rent a car, but we were able to walk to many atractions and restaurants nearby(sometimes not so near), always following their directions.
It was a great experience and we will definetely stay there again when we return to this wonderful city.

Room Tip: We were concerned about the front room facing the street, but it worth the try, since it was very qui...

“Great Experience!”

Our place of choice was chosen by trip advisor “An African Villa” as our accommodations in Capetown for one week. My wife and I are very particular and wondered if we shouldn’t be staying at one of the expensive waterfront hotels.
We had a wonderful surprise and experience at the “African Villa”! Along with the best of care, the accommodations were great and the location was perfect. All four owners combined were the best concierge to date as they handled every request expertly and pleasantly. Dining suggestions were efficiently followed by reservations. Suggestions and guidance were given to ensure the most enjoyable visit to the cape region.

“Great location to see Cape Town and wonderful resource”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 January 2012

Our 5 nights there were perfect for seeing the area. Our hosts, Cindy, Keith Jimmy and Louis were so helpful. At every turn they all the information we needed. They had great restaurant suggestions, and made the reservations. It is located in a quiet residential neighborhood, which was ideal for taking walks and a short distance from excellent restaurants. The breakfasts were great with plenty of good food. Snacks/drinks were available 24 hrs. via the honor system. Complimentary carafes of Port, Brandy, etc. were available every evening in the nicely appointed public areas. They coordinated our travels with Steven Lake, a wonderful guide of the area. Computers were available, as well as wi-fi. We found this gem through Mills Africa Travel of Lynnwood, WA (mamaafrica27@ gmail.com)

Room Tip: If you don't climb stairs well, choose a room on the ground floor.

“The perfect home base for a stay in Cape Town”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

From the moment we walked into the hotel we felt welcome. Cindy, Keith Jimmy and Louis are warm and extraordinarily helpful hosts. They are a wealth of information and patiently gave us driving directions, restaurant suggestions, wineland tour ideas, safety tips as well as making dinner reservations, calling taxis and booking tours. Think of the best concierge and that is the kind of service found at the African Villa- personal, patient and individualized.
Breakfast was wonderful, the neighborhood is quiet and in walking distance to many restaurants and there was always parking on the street for our rental car.
We spent 6 nights and were there over Christmas and Cindy and Keith invited all the guests for a Christmas Eve pre-dinner gathering for drinks and snacks. It was a thoughtful touch for those traveling during the holidays and the next morning, there were Christmas gifts for each guest under the tree.
If you visit CapeTown, I cannot think of a more perfect place to stay. We were sad to leave.
