I had booked for 3 nights and I didnt know what to expect after reading some of the reviews but I was happy enough with the Ritz. The room was fairly tired and need of refurbishment but clean, comfortable and roomy. It only cost £55 a night which is not bad but the bathroom was very poor. Behind the door had not been cleaned .....probably for some time and the door when I closed it was very , very dirty!! I cleaned it before my wife had a chance to see the mess. i did report to reception but nothing was done.

Other than that I have nothing but praise for the staff and facilities..good pool area and the revolving restaurant was wonderful and the food was of the highest standard at a reasonable price. (highly recommended ) there was a female pianist who was extremely talented and I would not be surprised if she has had classical training!

Breakfast was good too but coffee not so good but food and choice very acceptable.

All staff were friendly and helpful and we had no experience of any noise in the corridors.

With some investment and proper cleaning in the rooms this hotel could be very good indeed. I would consider staying again regardless. It is close to many attraqctions and a taxi to V&A harbour front was about 30 rand.

If the bathroom had been properly cleaned I would have given a far better rating.

I read the 'mixed' reviews but decided to take an chance on staying at the Ritz anyway as I was struggling to find last-minute accommodation in Sea Point. If you are looking for budget accommodation (and can get a budget rate) and you have expectations of a two star establishment, then you should be satisfied. If not, you will probably be disappointed.

- dirty, small and cramped rooms
- spotty, slow internet

would not stay here again!

This hotel has a deceiving name and external appearance. In my few days here, I have been scammed by reception and the bar, I have faced cockroaches they refuse to exterminate, I have been unable to change my room, and I have been unable to acquire an iron, towels, or internet. This hotel gave other hotel members a key to my room by mistake, has allowed strangers to wander throughout the hotel and harass me (as well as others) in elevators, and there is even video footage available of a maid allowing a stranger into a room to steal a laptop. The hotel is not remorseful nor helpful at all in dealing with these problems.

Do not stay here. You will regret it.
