Very beautiful spot. The rooms were large and uniquely decorated with fantastic style. The food was tremendous. Definitely eat at the hotel one night. It is one of the best meals I had in Cape Town. The views from the dining room are incredible. The hotel's location is great for exploring the southern suburbs along the Indian Ocean and Cape Point.

Colona Castle is a beautiful place to stay and the service is impeccable. We had a very pleasant 2 night stay in the English suite. The views are truly lovely and the pool area is a great place to relax. The surrounding areas are a pleasure to visit and Boyes Drive is a great road to drive down. We had fish and chips at Kalky's one lunchtime and ate at Olympia Café the other. Kalky's was good but Olympia even more yummier!

We had a lovely meal in the lounge with a table overlooking the lights of Cape Town. The food was delicious and the chocolate tart particularly special. The next night, Nicole arranged for us to have the best table in the house at Harbour House restaurant and that was a very good meal also. The driver that was organised for us was pricey. I can only assume that taxis are limited in this area. The meal we had was priced very reasonably for what we had but like the driver, the actual price wasn't made known to us until we asked / paid at check out.

Colona Castle was very special and lovely. In retrospect, I wonder if it would be better suited for people older than my husband and I (we are in our late twenties / thirties). Although we loved it we did feel that during our two night stay, we had to play at being grown ups! And sometimes it's fun pretending to be grown up!

With in an hour of emailing Colona Castle, Nicole had replied with all the details I needed to make my reservation, witch was handled with equal timeliness. This exceptional personal service set the tone for my entire stay.

Our plane landed four hours late and I was worried that the driver Nicole had arranged for us wouldn’t be there. We shouldn’t have worried, the hotel’s staff had phone the Airport to find out when we would be arriving and had made the necessary arrangements. The driver was personable and his car comfortable. As he drove us to Colona Castle he told us that we had made the right choice and that Nicole was the a superb hostess. It had just got dark when we arrived and I could see the lights of Greater Cape Town spread below us, if this was what it looked like at night, I couldn’t wait to see what the view was like by day.

We were welcomed by Nicole’s husband and owner of the hotel Michael who told us we had been upgraded. Our room was splendid and luxurious. The king sized bed and fantastic views and balcony made us reluctant to go and explore the city. After we had checked in we were given the most wonderful meal, Nicole told us that the chefs were brought in specially and we would only have to tell the staff a breakfast and they would cook fur in the evening. I turned out that we only ate the one dinner at Colona Castle because the ever helpful staff was able to send us to a new and delightful restaurants every night.

The hotel was so tastefully decorated you could be fooled into thinking you were in a private home with very hospitable owners, indeed that is exactly what staying at Colona Castle is like. I is as if you have just got in a plane and flown halfway around the world only to find you have just come home.

It was truly a wonderful experience being a guest at this hotel. We happened upon this place due to an overbooking at another hotel. We had no idea what to expect, so it was quite a pleasant surprise to be totally charmed by the hospitality of the owners and staff and the rooms were just great. Each room has a theme, like the green room or the Morrocan room, each with its own unique furnishings and decor. It is actually more like staying in a bed & breakfast, with the dining area being filled with lovely antiques and fine china, and the owners treating you like family. There is no doubt I will stay here again when in the Capetown area.
