“Not a 4 stars”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

We mainly just slept and it was fine, but not a place for honeymooners. A bit expensive for what it is. The staff is really nice though.

Pros:
Very nice staff, you can't say anything bad about them, very sweet, from the manager to the cleaners
Location is very good, close to table mountain and waterfront and to the main roads to go south, north and inland.
The butcher grill restaurant is good.
Comfy bed, we slept well every night.
Freshly cut fruits at breakfast was a nice healthy thing.

Cons:
looking at the reviews I was a bit concerned but when you see 4 stars you expect a 4 stars standards and unfortunately this hotel isn't. The bed was comfy but the room was a bit old and we had a huge crack facing the bed that we saw every morning waking up. The tv channel choice is very limited and you have the same movies all week, not that you go to watch movies but when you just want to chill it's very annoying and only CNN for news. The bathroom is basic.
Internet is not free and is poor quality, for a 4 star you would expect free wifi at least.
The parking is also not free for clients !? I still don't get it...60 rand a night...I mean it's better than outside but come on for hotel customers ?
The breakfast is good but after 3 days you don't wanna eat there anymore, always the same stuff and quite limited again for the 4 stars standards.
The room pictures on the net are a bit misleading, they told us we had table mountain view....we had the mini hill 3 trees and half view...
The pool is more like a jackuzy size so don't think you can swim.
Noisy A/C

“Not bad, not great - for business”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

There are certainly much worse places to stay, however if you do your homework you can find better places however for business it does suffice. If one is able to book in advance then natrually you are able to plan better in advance try a newer hotel or a B&B. Understandably new hotels are better, the finishes, aesthetics, design etc for this would be a critical factor in decising where I stay. would much rather forgo a slightly bigger room for a 'new' room.

All in all I cant rave about it, nor can I reccommend it.

Room Tip: Ask for a non-courtyard view

We stayed at the Cape Town Lodge over the christmas holidays last year. I'd like to thank the staff and management for making our stay warm and pleasant. All the effort you put into making guests comfortable and happy made our visit to Cape Town very memorable. Thanks !

“Excellent service and a great location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 January 2012

We were very impressed with our stay at the Cape Town Lodge.

The staff were friendly and helpful. We had arranged a Airport transfer in advance with the Hotel and the driver was waiting for us at arrivals. We arrived at the hotel at 7am (not expecting to be able to check in until 2pm), and our room was ready for us.

We stayed in a suite, and the room was huge. Well furnished and cleaned well daily.

The reception staff were helpful and arranged tours for us.

We had a meal in the hotel restaurant (Butchers Grill) which was excellent - not the cheapest meal in Capetown but well worth it.

Room Tip: We had a suite on 8th floor and it was excellent.

“Decent”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2012

We were transferred from Adderly Hotel to Cape Town Lodge after the former messed up our reservation (see my review). Staff was courteous and helpful and offered us a better room (the first one being far too small for 2 persons) after inquiring if we were satisfied with the accomodations.

The hotels is located only a couple of blocks from Long Street, the Bo'Kaap district is just across the road (Buitengracht Street) and a busstop for the CityTour bus is also conveniently close by. Otherwise, this hotel caters to both tourists and businessmen alike. Decent, reasonable value for ZAR, but nothing extraordinary...
