“Decent location, GREAT price, solid little backpackers”

Spent a semester in Cape Town studying and have stayed here multiple times. The staff is really great and accommodating. Great pool, location is in Greenpoint. Not a lot going on in the area (couple bars and restaurants) but it's a short minibus away from Long Street area.

Definitely a good standard experience, nothing to write home about, but got the job done.

PS Comfortable beds. and free internet, HUGE perk.

“Great value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 February 2010

For 350 zar/day I got a room for 2 people - nothing really special but I didn't expect much. The lodge has a bar, 30mins daily access to internet (pity there's no wireless). Cleaned up daily. Very friendly staff!

“Friendly and relaxing”

We spent weeks staying at this hostel, at the end of an epic trip from London to Cape Town.

The welcome was friendly, the rooms were clean, tidy and warm. The pools looked nice (but as we were there in winter it was a bit chilly for swimming), there is a barbeque area, and the deck is lovely when it is sunny.

It is only a 10-15 minute walk from the V&A Waterfront and the ferry to Robben Island, and about a 30 minute walk to Long Street. It is in a safe area. There is offroad parking outside if you are travelling with a car.

The hostel seems to attract an older and more mature clientele than some of the hostels on Long Street. As a result it is quieter and more chilled than some of those places.

On the negative side... the kitchens are a bit short of implements, a few parts of the hostel could do with a paint (this was in progress when we were there), there's only one slow internet terminal (chargeable, but there are cheap internet cafes nearby), and the satellite TV was broken when we were there. All minor issues.

Overall a nice place to stay in Cape Town.

“Nice, relaxing place to stay”

I stayed at this lodge for nearly 2 weeks. It is very calm, you meet nice people there. There are 2 little nice pools and the staff is very helpful. Maybe the rooms could need a new paint, but everything is clean. I would come back for sure, it is also a nice area and only 10-15 min. walkting distance to V&A waterfront
