It's the mark of a good hotel for me when you feel sad on the day you check out. After 21 nights I can honestly say that my early apprehensions about 3 weeks in an independently owned and managed hotel just outside the city centre may prove to be well founded. They were not. Whilst I could easily and legitimately criticise the poor maintenance issues I experienced when I finally settled in the were resolved on a Sunday and without fanfare. The hotel is well positioned minutes from anywhere I wanted to be and provides a sanctuary away from the madness of the Waterfront and it's local and international tourists.
My real and only criticism was the open house pool policy which in my view should be reviewed as the current set up allows locals, both resident and otherwise to take over the small pool area and loungers and in the process deprive PAYING hotel guests from the opportunity of using this on site facility. On several ocassions the pool was so crowded by non residents that I used alternative facilities when I would almost certainly have preferred not to.
Breakfast service and choice was always good (although the tablecloths often looked a bit stained) but the cheerful service and acknowledgement from all the staff made up or this small oversight.
All in all - a great place to retreat to and I will almost certainly return again.
