“Great option for Camps Bay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 January 2011

We stayed here for one night on our way back from the winelands. We arrived in the morning and were able to check in straight away which was great. We had booked to eat in the restaurant for the evening and the choice and execution were excellent. The wine list was really good, with knowledgeable and friendly staff. The room was large with everything you could want and possibly the comfiest bed of our whole trip. The ocean views from our room were stunning, and it was great to have a balcony to admire it from. The bathroom had a lovely big shower, and oversized bath, both of which were great. The room and the hotel were clean and well presented. We would definitely recommend Ezard House.

“Wonderful boutique hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 April 2010

Ezard House is truly a gem - the perfect boutique hotel. Great, great service, wonderful view of the ocean below, even better view of the mountains behind it, and incredibly warm atmosphere. The photos of the property don't do it justice. The architecture is incredibly unique - complete open core - and very relaxing, especially with the many koi ponds located both internally and externally. The staff are wonderful. This is probably my favorite hotel out of the 200+ that I've stayed at in the past 10 years. Wonderful.

“Lovely Staff make stay a delight..”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 April 2010

Stayed for 3 nights in Ezard at the end of our honeymoon. There were only 2 couples staying in the hotel which is obviously suffering badly as a result of the global recession.

However the staff, particularly Jacub, Elton, the reception girls and the chef really made our stay worthwhile. Nothing was too much trouble and they really go to lengths to make your stay enjoyable. Jacub in particular deserves special mention, he spent time speaking to us about the hotel, camps bay, the history of south africa and everything we needed to know. He really cant do enough for his customers. I hope Mr.Ezard appreciates that his staff are a credit to the hotel and probably the reason why I would return there. Thats how nice, friendly and professional they are.

The hotel itself commands beautiful views, you could sit on your balcony or in the restaurant for hours just looking out at the ocean.
I felt sorry for the staff as the hotel was so quiet however this season seems to have been a bad one in Capetown for many hotels, lets hope the world cup changes that.

The breakfast was lovely, you can sit up and watch the chef cook your eggs etc which is a nice change from the larger hotels. Really it is home from home here, in a very trendy setting. I think the hotel make need a touch up in some areas but this will probably be done in the off season.

The hotel is not cheap and maybe the expensive hotels are suffering as rates are much lower in other establishments, however I really liked the peace and quiet, the chats with the staff and the fact that nothing is too much trouble.

Minor observations for Mr. Ezard:
- A little choclate of gesture in the room for honeymooners would be appreciated.
- Few areas need a lick of paint we felt
- Menu could be jazzed up a bit..
- Taxi prices to camps bay priovided by the hotel need to be reduced, local taxi exactly half your price...
- Small onsite gym needed, should be the norn for 5 star establishments I feel.

On the plus side(and there are several)
- Jacub/Elton...such nice guys, very professional and Jacub really is the face of this hotel in my opinion he can make things happen in a business sense.
- Chef - lovely guy, great at his job.
- Reception girls very nice and friendly
- Fantastic views
- Room beautiful, bathroom massive...
- Views from balcony unbeatable
- Nothing here is too much trouble.
- Mr.Ezard needs in my opinion to make more time for customers, ok the hotel was virtually empty but with this being the case at least come up and spend 3 minutes to talk to the customers who have spent alot to stay in your hotel? Surely you can make time for this.....If it were my business I would....

All in all great stay with few suggestions on how this hotel can do a bit better. The staff are great here and it would be a shame if the hotel didnt survive the tough economic times....

Thanks to Jacub in particular, Elton, Chef and the girls in reception!

We hope to return someday!

Mr & Mrs Kennedy

“Beyond Our Wildest Dreams”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 March 2010

We were originally booked into another hotel in Camps Bay who, due to flood damage, cancelled with a few days to go before our trip. They arranged the transfer of our booking to Ezard House, and boy how lucky were we.
The directions to the hotel from the airport were first class and we were able to check in at 11am in the morning, which was welcome after an overnight flight. As soon as we arrived Don, the owner, and his staff made us feel at home. Nothing was too much trouble.
The room we had, think it was Ocean View 2 was spectacular. Comfy bed, views of the Atlantic and Lions Head from the large balcony with seating and table, comfy sitting room area, TV with loads of channels, nicely appointed bathroom with large bath and walk-in shower. Complementary toiletries provided and lots of towels, bathrobes etc. There was also a dressing room area with plenty of space to unpack, plus a safe.
Breakfast was not subject to any specific times, as and when you wanted it and where you wanted it and after the usual coffee/tea, juice, cereals etc, the chef of the day would cook almost what you wanted or would suggest something....all very nice.
After doing our own thing during the day we ate each night at the hotel. Bit more expensive than other restaurants in the area but what price good food, wine and the ambience.
At 7.30pm we went to the bar for complementary Sundowners, a glass of good South African wine. We would sit and watch the sun melt slowly into the Atlantic whilst studying the menu and choosing the wine with the assistance of the very friendly staff.
Dinner could not be faulted at all. Good choice and always well presented and most importantly it tasted great. If the weather allows ask to eat under the stars on the balcony.
We can highly recommend the Seafood Platter, but allow 24 hours to allow chef to purchase the goods. Well worth the money....and despite a challenge from the chef, we did finish it.....just
Every single member of staff was friendly, helpful and after 4 days there we felt like part of the family. The owner came and chatted with us a couple of times and he has succeeded in making Ezard House the best hotel I have ever stayed in, and there have been a few over the years. We cannot wait to return to Cape Town and stay with Don and his team.
The hotel has nice gardens to walk round, Koi Carp pools and views to the rear of Table Mountain and the Twelve Apostles. Camps Bay itself is a nice town with lots of Police and Security staff around, the motto appears on road signs as "Crime is Not an Option" and we certainly felt safe at all times in that area.
All in all a fantastic hotel....what's stopping you?

“Beautiful Hotel with Top Notch Service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 October 2009

Don Ezard welcomed us to Cape Town at the beginning of a 2 week vacation. Zakkie picked us up at the airport and was a great tour guide. The receptionist provided a detailed folder outlining the services of the hotel including directions and maps to most popular destinations. Having a rental car enabled us to take a Cape Point Tour, visit Kirstenbosch Gardens with beautiful spring flowers (Protea), V & A Waterfront and Table Mountain. Excellent advice on driving directions to Winelands with great suggestions on vineyards to visit. The food was excellent and the Seafood Platter was specially prepared by chef, Tabitha Guy. The butlers, Clement and Elton, were very pleasant and most helpful. Their hospitality made us feel very comfortable and secure on our first visit to South Africa. We cannot wait to return.
