“A Birthday at Sun City”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

I was recently given an amazing surprise birthday present to fly up from Cape Town to Sun City for the weekend. We checked in at the Cascades hotel and were warmly greeted by a porter (Osio i think he said) He directed us to the parking and said he would take care of our luggage as the room was not quite ready. After a brief walk around, we returned to the hotel where we found our rooms were ready. We headed up to the 11th floor and were greeted by stunning view of the surrounding hills and pool terrace below. From there, we just had a wonderfull time on the resort at the pools, a game drive, vally of waves and a great dinner at Santorini restaurant. I must make a mention of the food and service at both fishmonger and squires - below standard.
I would like to thank Johan Oerson and his team for the wonderful service, the fruit and cheese bowls and bubbly, the lady from in roomn dining who delivered our hot chocloate at 5am on the day we went game driving, she was super friendly.
I must certainly recommend Sun City for a weekend getaway, it really felt like an extended holiday. From the last time I was there a few years back, the level of care and friendliness of the staff has improved vastly

“very short but pleasant stay”

We started our long holiday for SA at the Sun City. We chose to stay at the Cascades and it was indeed the perfect choice.
Very close to all amenities.......the mall, valley of waves....... and etc
Had the best breakfast.
Whilst it was raining we never got bored or stuck as everything was so close and near by and we enjoyed ourseleves thoroughly

Room Tip: not sure about other rooms, we were on the 2nd floor and was great, no noise, not sure why everyone...

“Sun City's second best hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 January 2012

While The Palace remains the resorts best hotel, the cascades is excellent, with a few niggles here and there. Firstly, it has a regular and heated pool with water slide. Secondly, it has a truely spectacular setting with a suspension bridge as the highlight. There are a few room types. Standard, which is an average to small room. Family, which is a little bigger with pull-out sofa. then the deluxe rooms, corner rooms and suites and garden rooms and suites. I've stayed in many of these, and probably the best value are the family rooms that have their own patio as well as seperate shower. Service is ok for a casino resort and GM's are rarely seen. Breakfast is excellent. And the Greek restaurant at the pool, transforms itself at night into an unexpectedly good choice. If you're visiting from overseas, all prices will be a bargan. The superbowl [international pop stars mostly] is steps away. The main hotel hosts the casino which has seen far better days, and slot machines are typically everywhere. the game reserve is good and there's a lake if you're into water skiing, etc.

Room Tip: Go to Sun International's website to make sure of the room [and hotel] you want. Don't rely...

“best place to stay at Sun City”

We stayed at the Cascades during the busy first days of the new year, with 2 kids in a family room. The hotel is very efficient, breakfast is one of the most comprehensive we ever had and the location is great. One can walk to the valley of the waves and a complimentary shuttle takes you to all the other attractions (great kids activities at the lake). The only complaint I have is that the aircon did not work in the room, and room service is expensive and not of great quality. Eeverything else was perfect.
