“Superb in every way”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

We stayed for 8 nights and enjoyed every minute of our time at the Blue Jay. Phil and Marjie go the extra mile to make their guests feel welcome and attend to their every needs. We stayed in the self catering room/house which was a delight, very comfortable, spacious and luxurious. We highly recommend the Blue Jay Lodge and look forward to returning again soon.

“Stunning Location”

Highly recommend this place. We stayed in the self catering unit, which offers lots of space. I loved everything in here, from the thatched roof to the tastefully decorated bathroom. The garden is beautiful and I loved sitting outside at night, listening to the sounds. Phil and Margi are very nice hosts who also helped us find the best route to our next destination in Sabi Sands. If you are visiting Hazyview, look no further.

Room Tip: Self Catering unit is great and has everything you need.

Everything that has already been said is absolutely true. It was a wonderful experience and in a perfect location to all the attractions. Phil and Margi are fantastic hosts. I would stay here any chance I got.

“Stunning accomodation, perfect hosts”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

The Blue Jay Lodge far exceeded our expectations and we truly think the online photos do not do this property justice. The gardens were immaculate and beautifully designed. The room was spacious, clean, well decorated and elegantly furnished. We stayed here for one night to visit nearby Blythe Canyon, God's WIndow etc and left wishing we had stayed longer. The hosts Phil and Margi were very accomodating and Phil was very helpful in helping us plan our day and recommending excellent lunch and dinner restaurants. The breakfast was one of the best we had on a two week holiday. We were not there long enough to enjoy the mini bar etc but did notice how reasonable the prices were - no big mark up like other lodges/hotels. I would certainly go back and stay at Blue Jay Lodge but next time we will allow more time!

“Beautiful accommodation in great location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2012

I can't really add anything to any of the other reviews, except to say that they're all true! Great hosts - friendly and helpful, giving good advice on where to go, what to do, where to eat - and the accommodation is fabulous - comfortable, spacious, relaxing and wonderfully cool in the heat. The breakfasts shouldn't be missed, with a huge selection of hot and cold to choose from, cooked to perfection by Phil! The birdlife is very varied and lovely to listen to; we were treated to an incredible dawn chorus on the first morning, partly due to the presence for a couple of days of 2 beautiful owls who had taken up residence in a tree right outside our sons' balcony! (see photo). The location is very convenient for a great range of activities as well as the Kruger and Sabi Sands, not forgetting the stunning canyon drives. If you like wildlife you should also visit the golf course at Sabi River Sun hotel, where there are a large number of hippos that can be seen in the lake, as well as crocodiles and an unbelievable number of nesting birds. Would definitely recommend Blue Jay Lodge for couples as well as families.

Room Tip: The self-catering room is huge and well worth the extra - you can still have breakfast provided if y...
