Just got back from The Ranch. Had a great weekend. The hotel is not a traditional hotel but rather more a resort with rooms separate from each other, which is nice as they are more private. Parking is right at your room and is free.
Check in was quick. Rooms were really great. We had a Deluxe Family room and it was extremely spacious with flat screen TV and tea/coffee making facilities. Plenty of cupboard space and good linen on the beds. There is a bit of an ant problem--especially on the study desk--but not too bad as they are harmless. Bathroom was spacious with a bathtub and a shower. Complimentary bath products were ok. There were lots of nice extras in the room like a box of biscuits, small bottle of wine(which we didnt use as we dont drink) and some turkish delight.
Food was ok with a limited menu as we could only eat at the Buttery because we had a child with us. Nice child friendly facilities like jungle gym and play area--also have a small games room with pool table and table soccer-- but didnt use it as some things were not working while we were there. Resort also has a heated pool but didnt use that either as it is winter.
The Game Drive was really great, just didnt like the guide who kept scaring my 3 year old son by telling him that he would feed him to the lions!!! Totally 'not-on'
What was nice was that my son was allowed on the game drive as most game drives only allow ages 6 and above-- and he totally loved it. A little tip: if you going in winter on the game drive, take an extra jacket as it gets a bit a cold.
The resorts biggest asset are its staff especially at reception and the restaurant. We went to the Ranch to celebrate my husbands birthday and I phoned a week before to organise a cake for him. The lady at reception was super and organised all the details for me.
All in all, a nice weekend away.
