What a beautiful place this is! One can tell the "pride" of the family that runs this establishment from the personal, intimate care thta is taken of the property and the accommodation.
By far, the main attraction, and the reason for my 1 night stay, was the "Walk with Lions" tour. This tour is conducted in the early morning (7am), which is for very good reason due to how hot it gets later in the day - more so, for the activity of the lions, who are more sedate as the day gets warmer.
The tour is short, but I still think well worth the price paid due to getting to experience the lions in their natural environment. The lions are taken, along with the guests, numerous handlers and the tour guide, on an established path in the conservatory park. They instinctively stalked the buck encountered. Our group consisted of only 3 guests, but the walk was still conducted.
The resort has several other activities, including a tennis court, table tennis, a few arcade games, a well-stocked gym, large jungle gym for the kids and the several pools, including heated pools. There was a wedding being catered that Saturday afternoon and the grounds were decorated, besides the beautiful flowers that were in bloom.
We encountered a few hitches: the Buttery was the only open restaurant on the Saturday night as the formal, Basil's was closed for a private birthday; the waitering staff seemed insufficient for the number of guests on that Saturday evening and were not coping, with guests having to wait for attention, the rooms were clean but not spotless.
The food at the Buttery was delicious (as per other Tripadvisor reviews, as well). Despite the delays, my rack of lamb was impeccably well done, and the "chicken liver bunny-chow" sparked interest as well as being delicious.
The grounds are beautifully well kept, and great attention is paid to the details at the resort.
Zephora, at reception, was most welcoming and went out of her way to ensure our comfort.
I can't say that this is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, only because I know I will make every effort to return to this "beautiful place".
