Just got back from Sandpoint, 10-9-09 -10-12-09 (Columbus Weekend)
Very disappointed, I was reluctant to go in the first place because of the cost, $135.00 a night for park model front row, and $90.00 - $110 (average) for A beater of a trailer, that as paid for itself time and time again. We have been Going here for 17 years, and took 9 years off, to return to a junk pile.
The reason I say that is, in the past there was only a few camp host (full time) Spots, now Sandpoint rents spots out Weekly / Monthly so everybody leaves All their junk behind when they go home (Boats / golf carts / Vehicles / BBQ’s/ hanging pots flowers/ fake carpet and so on) in front of the trailers, also the park is becoming a boat storage, a few boats are parked across from the front row looking towards Parker, just what I want to look at.
Sandpoint used to be very strict about leaving stuff in front of trailers, they used make you park your boat in a slip or in the trailer parking by the boat ramp, which is almost full due to it being turned full time boat storage. There were very few people there this weekend, I’m sure it’s because of the economy, and the cost of Staying at this place, it will coast an average family of 3 from California around $800.00 to $1000.00 dollars for lodging / food / gas for a 3 day weekend.
Now we will be looking elsewhere, for a cheaper newer and cleaner resort.
I will go back, however not as much as we did before, and if I find another
Resort, we will not be BACK!

Sandpoint does not use "camp hosts" and has offered daily/weekly/monthly rates for over 2 decades. Many of our guests go to great lengths and a considerable amount of money to dress-up their sites and make them feel like home. We do not have an age restriction on rigs that can stay in our Park like some of the other RV Parks in Lake Havasu. The majority of our guests have very nice rigs, nice boats and relatively new golf carts. I am unaware of any guest site that would qualify as a "junk pile."
The boat parking in the direction of "Parker" you are referring to is Cattail Cove State Park which is next door to us. That very expensive parking area was built to adequately serve all of the guests to the State Park and is not a part of Sandpoint.
In the past few years guests have found it financially difficult to haul their boats back and forth and have opted to leave them in boat storage which has been in exactly the same place since 1976. Sandpoint offers boat storage and has never "required" that a boat be put into a slip.
Hundreds of "repeat" guests return each year specifically requesting both the Park Models and one of the "beaters of a trailer." The cost of a motel room in town, parking, launching and wait time in line to get to a launch ramp would add up to more than the cost of our rental units. At Sandpoint, you get free parking and no launch fees, no waiting and no fees to park on your site.
Sandpoint is an older facility. Our Park Models and trailers offer guests a safer and more confortable method of camping. The majority of guests enjoy Sandpoint's rustic charm and seem very pleased to be here. I am sorry that you were unhappy during your return visit. It is my wish that all our guests are happy and want to return. However, some prefer a more upscale facility when vacationing and perhaps Sandpoint is not what you are looking for. If I might recommend Crazy Horse or the Islander which sit right on the Island in Lake Havasu. Both of which are known for being very popular or Havasu Springs located South of Sandpoint on the way to Parker. Their facility is also very nice.
