My wife and I stayed here for 2 days prior to our South Africa Tour. Hotel manager was very helpful with suggestions for transportation to tourist sites - Tourists are not recommended to take taxis, busses or trains in the Johanesberg area. Best to get a tour company - very expensive- instead. Most of the places that we went to were 1/2 hour or more away by tour bus. Airport about the same distance.
The hotel was clean and comfortable. It is located walking distance to a popular shopping mall that has great restaurants, but the hotel restauant is good also. Since it was our first experience in South Africa, we were very impressed with the quality and cost of wine available with meals. There is an outdoor lounging area and garden.
Front desk service was friendly and helpful. Rooms were large and comfortable.
We would stay there again - perhaps next year.

The hotel is a quite nice property, with view to a lake and next to Centurion Mall, with many restaurant options.

I arrived early to the hotel, since my flight was a very early one. the hotel staff ensured me that I could have an early check in, even if I did not let them know beforehand. It took them about 50 mins to get the room ready and I was exhausted, but was rewarded with an upgrade to a better suite.

The hotel staff is friendly and helpful, the premises are quiet, clean and my stay very good, will definitely stay there again.

Stayed in Protea Waterfront for a week in October 2011. I had a self catering apartment, which means you have a comfortable living room, nice bedroom. Not too much should you want to cook for yourself as the kitchen utilities are limited to microwave and tea kettle. Rooms were very clean, the hotel has a restaurant as well as decent room service. There was a warning that the lake may smell and a lot of people have pointed it out yet I did not feel anything. They have a free internet connection (up to 100 MB per day), it had some issues - meaning that I had to log on almost every hour. Literally across the parking lot is Centruion mall with plenty of shops, cafes and a large hypermarket. Other than that there is not much to do around the hotel. The nicest thing about this property is the staff. Very friendly and helpful making you feel at home. I would stay there again if I had some business to do in Centurion or also in Pretoria (15 minutes away by car). There is also a train station in vicinity where you can take trains to both Sandton or Johannesburg airport. Given the rate they charge I would say its a money well spent!
