We were there as part of a Saga tour. Prior to arriving at the hotel we visited the Botanical Gardens in Durban and can say I was very impressed by the range of colourful plants on display as well as the native birds to be seen.
The room was beautiful with lots of space and even a microwave. There was a double bed. One criticism was that the toilet was at an angle between the bath and the sink and there was a danger of hitting you head sitting down or getting up.
For dinner we had Pastrami and Salad to start and for main course there was Hake and vegetables, Chicken Curry and Mince. We had Chocolate Cake with Fresh Fruit. There was quite a choice and all of it looked good.
Breakfast was the best selection yet. I had cornflakes, first cereal in Africa, followed by Bacon, Scrambled Eggs and Lamb Sausage, which was delicious. The coffee was awful, which was a surprise for a hotel of this standing.
At breakfast one of the restaurant staff went round the dining room giving the weather forecast as well as stocks and shares and exchange rates, apparently off the top of his head. He was funny.
South Africa seems to be famous for being a meat eating nation and that is certainly reflected in the amount of meat you are given at each meal. The same can be said of fish.
